The Cable is reporting that a former governor of Kano state, Air Vice Marshal Hamza Abdullahi (rtd) has died in far away Germany. The retired AVM served as military governor of Kano state from 1984 to 1985, while President Muhammadu Buhari was military head of state. He was said to have died in Germany on Wednesday, January 3. Abdullahi was born in Hadejia, Jigawa state and attended the Nigeria Air Force Tactical Training Wing, Kaduna in 1964. A request by Kogi state senator, Dino Melaye, for police officers to vacate his residence and desist from further attempts at arresting him has been declined by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Legit.ng gathered that Melaye had approached the court after the police officers laid a siege to his residence following allegations by the senator that the police planned to poison him. Melaye also asked the court to stop the police from what he described as acting in a manner threatening his life. Renewed Boko Haram attacks might be connected to 2019 general elections - New report

A new report has shown that no Nigerian territory is under the control of the Boko Haram terrorist group. The Centre for Conflict Resolution and Management made the disclosure in a report released on Wednesday, January 2, after an on-the-spot assessment of Baga town in Kukuwa local government area Borno state and others parts of northeastern Nigeria. Presenting the new report, the executive director of the centre, Betty Aku, said contrary to the media report, no town in the country is being controlled by the violent group. Health minister explains why 50% of Nigerian-trained doctors practice abroad
