Nigerian Music Star, Davido, In Self-isolation After Fiancée, Chioma, Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Nigerian musician, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has announced that his fiancé, Chioma, has tested positive for Coronavirus.  Making the announcement on Twitter, Davido said Chioma recently returned from the United Kingdom with their baby. While the baby tested negative, her own result returned positive.  He said, “Hey everyone, I came back recently from America after cancelling a tour. BREAKING: Coronavirus Cases Hit 70 In Nigeria

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control has confirmed five new cases of Coronavirus in the country. This was announced through the official Twitter page of the agency on Friday night. The NCDC said, "Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: Three in FCT and two in Oyo State. “As at 8:00pm 27th March, there are 70  cases of confirmed #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. BREAKING: Lagos Government To Provide Food For Residents Over Coronavirus Lockdown

  The Lagos State Government has set up food banks across the state to cater for 200,000 households in 377 wards in the state to cater for the most vulnerable during the mandated lockdown to curb the spread of Coronavirus.  Residents, who cannot afford meals during the lockdown will receive food provided by the state. A statement by the Lagos State Government on Friday reads, "Few days after LASG issued a stay-at-home directive to residents, in order to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled economic stimulus package for the indigent and the most vulnerable in the society. Ex-Ogun Sports Commissioner, Olopade, Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The former Commissioner for Sports in Ogun State, Bukola Olopade, has tested positive for Coronavirus.  In a video he posted online, Olopade said, “A few days ago, I did make a video that I have been tested for COVID-19. NYSC Camps, Stadium To Serve As Isolation Centres For Coronavirus Patients

File photo   The Nigerian Government has converted all National Youth Service Corps camps and four stadia in the country into isolation centres. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday dare, said this on his Twitter handle on Friday. “Mr President has approved for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to open and make available the stadiums in Surulere Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Kaduna, as well as our NYSC camps nationwide for use as isolation centres as they are needed. We are in touch with relevant authorities.” The Lagos State Government has already converted the Onikan Stadium into an isolation centre earlier in the week. Sokoto Government Closes Entry Points Into State Over Coronavirus

  The Sokoto State Government on Friday announced the closure of entry points into the ancient city in order to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the country. Governor Aminu Tambuwal in a broadcast said that only the movement of medical supplies and essential food items will be allowed into Sokoto from other parts of the country. He said the closure will stay in place for an initial two weeks pending observations on the pattern of the disease in the state and country. Also, all civil servants on grade level 12 and below have been directed by the state government to work from home for two weeks from Friday, March 27 to Friday, April 10, 2020. The governor said all further measures to be taken by the state will be based on expert advice from the state’s Ministry of Health, Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Federal Ministry of Health as and when the need arises. Coronavirus: United States Urges Doctors, Nurses Worldwide To Apply For Its Visas

The United States Government has urged nurses and doctors around the world interested in working in America to put in for its work visas at the nearest US Embassy to them. The move is part of strategies the United States was adopting to increase the number of health workers combating the Coronavirus pandemic in the country. In a statement on Friday, the US authorities called on foreign medical professionals already in America to be in touch with their sponsors to extend their programmes. Lagos Government Says Coronavirus Cases May Rise To 39,000 In State

The Lagos State government on Friday said that cases of Coronavirus in the city may rise to 39,000 in the coming weeks. Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof Akin Abayomi, made the comment on Friday during a briefing with journalists.
