Afenifere Reacts To Kidnap Of Schoolboys In Katsina

Insecurity: Not Even Buhari Is Safe In Katsina, CD Says

A civil society organisation, Campaign for Democracy, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari risks being kidnapped over the worsening banditry and insecurity in the country, especially in the North.  In an interview with SaharaReporters, the CD President, Abdul Usman, lamented that while the President is surrounded by heavy security in his hometown in Daura, bandits were attacking helpless residents in other parts of Katsina State. 10 Applicants Going For Nigerian Navy Screening Die In Road Accident

Ten young men from Jigawa State and their driver travelling to Kano State for the Nigerian Navy screening examination and aptitude test died in a ghastly road accident on Saturday.  The vehicle conveying them had reportedly rammed into a trailer, which was wrongly parked by the road. The Nigerian Navy Aptitude Test for the 2020 recruitment exercise was scheduled for today at 30 centres across the country. Ondo Mother Trafficked To Egypt By Brother Rescued

The Nigerian government has rescued a mother of four, Omowunmi Aladeboyeje, who was trafficked to Cairo, Egypt. The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in a statement signed by its spokesman, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said Aladeboyeje was tricked to Egypt by her elder brother. He informed her about a nursing job in the United States. NIDCOM Balogun added that the Ondo State indigene is presently on her way to Okitipupa, Ondo State. The statement reads, “Trafficking: NIDCOM facilitates the return of another trafficked girl home, as Dabiri-Erewa restates her appeals to youth travelling out illegally.”   The agency said the victim, an auxiliary nurse, was sexually harassed, beaten, and imprisoned at home by her abusers. The governor had gone into isolation on Friday following contact with persons infected with the virus. Governor Masari Visits Kankara Over Students’ Abduction, Breaks Down In Tears

The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has said nobody can ascertain the number of secondary school students abducted by suspected bandits in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state. Gunmen had on Friday night invaded Government Boys Science Secondary School in Kankara shooting sporadically and abducted many students. Speaking to journalists on Saturday when he visited the school, Masari said the state government was making efforts to rescue the schoolboys. The governor, who could not control his emotions, broke down in tears while begging residents of the community to be patient and show understanding with the government. Hoodlums Kill Ex-Federal Lawmaker, Aborode

Hoodlums have attacked and killed a former member of the House of Representatives, Fatai Aborode, in Oyo State. The former lawmaker met his untimely death on his way from his farm at Igangan in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo state.  Aborode was in the House of Representatives on the platform of Accord in 2015 but recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.  The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the former lawmaker’s death, stating that efforts were ongoing to arrest the assailants. Aborode and his manager were said to have been attacked, but the manager narrowly escaped death. He said, “At about 1750 hrs of 11/12/2020, along Apodun road Igangan, one Alhaji Fatai Aborode’ m’ of Igangan, was robbed and shot by four unknown gunmen. Indian police A 31-year-old Nigerian man, Lucas William, has been arrested for cybercrime by the police in Pune, a city in India. According to the police, William has been living illegally in the country for six years. Gunmen Kill Policeman, Cart Away Rifle In Delta

Gunmen on Friday shot a mobile policeman along Jakpa road, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State and took his AK 47 rifle after they had confirmed that he was dead. Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Onome Onovwakpoyeya told Vanguard that she received information on the death, adding that details were still hazy. “I am aware that a Mobile Police man was shot dead   on Jakpa road. Police Dragged Me On The Ground Till I Fainted – Victim Of Rivers Violence

A 47-year-old man, Amaechi Efungwu, who is presently in the hospital, has narrated how policemen dragged him on the ground until he became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital in the Rukpokwu area of Rivers State. He also alleged that the same policemen shot dead some other people in Rukpokwu while trying to manage a protest that ensued after a young tricycle driver was killed.
