The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye, has allegedly ordered the arrest of at least 12 health workers who are members of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, currently on strike. The NANNM demanded that the government should look into: one, the demotion of principals of Nursing and Midwifery Schools; two, the imposition of a junior nursing officer as the director of nursing services; three, the non-implementation of nurses that were laterally transferred to the Ministry of Health. The United States’ government has cancelled all visa reciprocity fees for Nigerian citizens seeking a visa to the United States. The eliminated reciprocity fees for Nigerian citizens takes effect from December 3, 2020. This was made known by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of foreign affairs, Ferdinand Nwonye, in a statement. He said he would direct his legal representatives to start the procedure of terminating the surety bond he contracted for Maina because, according to him, the former pension boss could not be trusted. Youths in Oyo State are rising to the occasion to fight female genital mutilation, which is very high in the state when compared to the national prevalence rate of 20 per cent.   The practice is rooted in cultural beliefs and myths.   Previous efforts made to eradication this harmful practice have primarily targeted women, but total eradication will depend on engaging men because Nigeria is patriarchal, experts say.  With support from the UNFPA, Youthhub Africa partnered with Onelife Initiative to organise a two-day training on eradicating female genital mutilation eradication in Oyo State. This was part of the activities to commemorate 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. A report by an international agency, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), has shown that Boko Haram killed about 657 civilians in the last 11 months. It was gathered that the terrorists had also killed 592 state actors, including security operatives, government officials, humanitarian workers, civilian task force, and others. This brings the number of people killed to 1,249. A report by Daily Trust also shows that thousands of people have been killed by the Boko Haram terrorists in the last 11 years.  Like some of those that occurred this year, many killings are hardly reported by the media because of some reasons. The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, better known as Shiite, has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari over his failure to put an end to the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians by terrorists and bandits.
