We Won’t Join Issues With Governor Ortom, Suswam Over Killing Of Gana —Nigerian Military

Major General John Enenche The Nigerian military has said it would not join issues with the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, and a former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswan, over the killing of the most wanted criminal and militia leader in Benue, Terwase Agwaza aka Gana. Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, disclosed this on Thursday. Agwaza, who had been on the wanted list of the government for about four years, gave himself up on Tuesday preparatory to be granted an amnesty alongside his gang members by Governor Ortom and the State Security Council. Gunmen Storm Abuja Community, Abduct Residents

A resident of the area, who spoke with SaharaReporters, said they woke up to sporadic shooting, adding that the kidnappers struck about 2:00am. Bandits Kidnap Zamfara Treasurer’s Three Children, Kill Neighbour

Bandits in Zamfara State in the early hours of Wednesday kidnapped three children of the state’s Sub-treasurer, Alhaji Yusuf Marafa, in Nahuche town under Bungudu Local Government Area of the state. The kidnapped children are Mansur Yusuf, Sa’adu Yusuf and Anas Yusuf. The gunmen also shot dead a neighbour to Yusuf, Malam Kamalu Nahuche, as he came out of his house. Dutch Embassy Wrongly Fired Whistleblower For Exposing Corruption, International Court Rules

International Court of Justice The International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, has faulted the dismissal of Fidelia Onoghaife, a whistleblower, who exposed Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria, Robert Petri. Onoghaife, a Nigerian-British, who was the Senior Policy Advisor of Economic and Political Affairs at the Dutch Embassy in Nigeria, was sacked after revealing how Petri leaked confidential information about an extensive corruption investigation into the operation of Shell to the oil company. To hide her dismissal, the Dutch Embassy alleged that she was high-handed in her behaviour and unpopular with staff. Only Final-year Students Of Tertiary Institutions Will Resume On Monday, Says Lagos Government

The Lagos State Government has revealed plans on how schools in the state will be reopened amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Schools in the state have been closed since March as part of measures to limit the spread of the virus. The governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had directed all tertiary institutions under the state to reopen on September 14. Policemen Allegedly Prevent Anti-Akeredolu Lawmakers From Gaining Access Into Ondo Assembly Complex During Plenary

Armed policemen on Thursday prevented two lawmakers believed to be against Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, from gaining access into the House of Assembly complex while sitting was ongoing.  This comes days after some thugs invaded the Assembly and prevented anti-government lawmakers from accessing the complex.  The two members denied entry into the complex on Thursday are Festus Akingbaso (representing Akoko North-East) and Rasheed Elegbeleye (representing Akoko Idanre). Man Narrates How LASTMA Officials In Lagos Damaged His Car, Collaborated With Colleagues To Deny It

Idy Enang, a Nigerian man on Twitter, has recounted how officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority damaged his car and refused to take responsibility for their action. Enang @IdyEnang in a series of tweets, photos and video on Thursday documented his exchange with the LASTMA officials, who were allegedly attempting to intimidate his driver from seeking damages through mob action. The officers driving an official van with registration number RTM 221 LA involved in the alleged intimidation, which took place at Oba Akran Area of Lagos and are attached to Zone 10 Maryland, are identified as Baderin A, Bakare S, Senior officer Badejoko among others.  Enang called on the Lagos State Government to investigate the matter, punish the officers involved and bear the cost of damages for his car. The International Press Centre, Lagos, has condemned the unlawful arrest of four journalists while covering a peaceful protest on the fuel price increase and electricity tariff. The four journalists – Ifeoluwa Adediran of Premium Times, Abiodun Ayeoba of SaharaReporters, Awoniyi Oluwatosin of Objective Media and Daniel Tanimu of Galaxy Television – were arrested on Thursday at the scene of the protest alongside 14 others in Lagos State. Melody Akinjiyan, Program Officer/Safety Desk Officer, IPC, said the organisation wholly condemns the arrest of the journalists as it immediately demands their release. He said, “IPC disapproves the harassment and brutalisation of the journalists in the course of legitimate duty and particularly decries the seizure and damage to their working tools.  “IPC demands the immediate and unconditional release of the journalists. Nigerian Army Sponsors Big Budget Movie Production In Enugu Aimed At Depicting Shiites As Terrorists

The Nigerian Army has sponsored a movie shooting in Enugu State aimed at depicting the Islamic Movement in Nigeria as a terrorist organisation. In the movie, popular Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, was featured in a role with outfit resembling Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the IMN, who has been in detention since December 2015. There are plans to feature the movie on Netflix, a source told SaharaReporters. The movie production is part of a cover up of the December 2015 massacre of Shiites by Nigerian soldiers. Socialist Party Of Nigeria Condemns Arrest Of Members, Journalists, Demands Immediate Release

The Socialist Party of Nigeria has condemned the attacks on and arrests of party members and journalists in Lagos, demanding their immediate release. Dimeji Macaulay, National Organising Secretary of SPN, in a statement called on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to end the use of excessive force against protesters, and allow people to peacefully exercise their human rights. The party members and journalists were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday while expressing their displeasure over the recent increase in petroleum price and electricity tariff.
