Men In Military Uniform Were At Scene Of Lekki Shooting, Governor Sanwo-Olu Reveals

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State, has said that CCTV footage from the Lekki Toll Gate area where over 10 peaceful protesters were killed by soldiers last Tuesday night showed that men in Nigerian Army uniform were at the scene of the incident. The Nigerian Army initially denied the attacks in a post on Twitter, describing reports of the incident as “fake news” despite video evidence. Sanwo-Olu while speaking with CNN said CCTV footage from the Lekki Toll Gate confirmed that persons, who carried out the massacre were in military gear. BREAKING: Nigerian Soldiers Kill Two Persons In Osun

Two persons have allegedly been killed by operatives of the Nigerian Army in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State. SaharaReporters gathered that trouble started when some youth, calling for the removal of Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi (Lambeloye III), stormed the palace and drove the monarch out of the place. The police in Ondo State have arrested a total of 10 persons in connection with various destruction of public and private properties in the state. The criminal act followed days of protest to end police brutality in the state.  Bolaji Salami, Commissioner of Police in the state, who disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Monday, said many of the suspects were thugs arrested at the scene of the incident.  He added that those apprehended by the police were not protesters. Kwara Police Arrest 144 Persons Over Looting Of Malls

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested 144 persons suspected to be connected with the vandalisation and looting of malls in the state. The thugs, who went on the rampage during the weekend, invaded stores of traders in Palms Mall on Fate Road, Ilorin, the state capital, and made-away with items like phones, chairs, generators, toiletries and food items. The Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, while speaking with journalists, noted that the arrest was made by a combined team of security agencies, who went after the looters. He said some of the looted items had been recovered, noting that it would be a continuous exercise to recover more items from suspected persons. NLC Condemns Hoarding Of COVID-19 Palliatives, Demands Immediate Distribution To Reduce Hardship

The Nigeria Labour Congress has condemned the hoarding of COVID-19 palliatives by some state governments in the country. This is as the NLC called for the distribution of all palliatives still stored in different warehouses across the country. In recent days, residents of states like Lagos, Ogun, Plateau and Edo have been discovering and looting foodstuffs hoarded in COVID-19 warehouses. Berating the action of the state government to hoard the palliatives rather than distribute it, the NLC in a statement urged the Nigerian Government to investigate the conduct of those hoarding the palliatives. It also said that some hoarded palliatives were getting rotten while hunger and hardship was growing in the country. FCT Minister Orders Mass Deployment Of Soldiers, Police In Abuja Over Lootings

FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Bello, has ordered the deployment of soldiers and other security agents to different parts of Abuja to stop further looting of warehouses in the nation’s capital. Many Injured In Stampede As Looting Of Stored COVID-19 Items Continues In Abuja

Following the invasion of a palliative warehouse in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday, many people were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of stampede. It was gathered that some women, who thronged the warehouse, were suffocated but were revived with water. The thugs were said to have climbed the fence from adjacent compound near WAEC office while others penetrated through the back of Fidelity Bank premises to gain entrance. Some officers of Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, Nigeria Police and Guards Brigade of Nigeria Army, who arrived at the scene, blocked the roads with their vehicles but later overpowered by the thugs. Thugs Attack COVID-19 Isolation Centre In Jalingo, Loot Beds

File Photo Suspected thugs have attacked COVID-19 isolation centre in Jalingo, Taraba State, and went away with mattresses and other items at the centre. According to Daily Trust, the centre located at NYCS camp along Wukari-Jalingo Road was invaded by thousands of youth, who broke the gates and doors of the centre. A combined team of police and soldiers, who were mobilised to prevent the youth from carting away items at the center were unable to stop them. Nigerian Government Fines Channels, AIT, Arise TV N9m Over #EndSARS Coverage

The National Broadcasting Commission has fined Channels Television, AIT and Arise TV over alleged ethical infractions during the #EndSARS protests and the crisis that followed it. NBC Acting Director-General, Prof Armstrong Idachaba, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Monday. Idachaba said the affected media houses were fined N3,000,000 each for flouting the provisions of the Nigerian broadcasting code.
