2019: Adamawa APC in disarray as Ribadu vows never to campaign for Bindow

- Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Nuhu Ribadu has vowed never to campaign for the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa

- Ribadu who was recently appointed as the director, fields operations in the Buhari campaign council, has been warned by the party not to sabotage the governorship candidate

- This latest move has further polarized the state chapter of the APC in Adamawa

Trouble is brewing in the Adamawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections as a chieftain of the party, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has vowed never to campaign for the state governor.

Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was recently appointed as the director, fields operations in the Buhari campaign council. He had pulled put of the Adamawa governorship race under the APC last year, accusing the governor of manipulating the mode of the party's primary elections.

Reacting to Ribadu's stance, the Adamawa state APC, through its publicity secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, warned Ribadu to desist from his planned sabotage of the party's governorship candidate.

“If need be, the APC will take disciplinary action against any erring party member, however highly placed,” Abdullahi warned.

According to Sahara Reporters, Abdullahi accused Ribadu of attempting to run a parallel campaign, which the party will not condone.

Adamawa APC executives also threatened to deal decisively with any party stakeholder who campaigns for Buhari without supporting all other APC candidates in the state, especially Governor Bindow.

The party EXCO said it expects all hands to be on deck given that it will soon commence its statewide campaign.

This latest move has further polarized the state chapter of the APC in Adamawa where supporters of those for or against the governor are already at daggers drawn and set for a battle which, if not quelled, will dim the party's chances in the 2019 elections.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
