Last Sunday in Emene, Enugu State, a massacre on a small scale of unarmed members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) took place tragically. According to reports online some members of the ‘proscribed’ Biafra nationhood agitators were having a meeting (some say Jewish praying session, others recruitment exercise) inside the Community Secondary School in Emene. And suddenly the Department of State Services (DSS) agents intervened and attempted to disperse the group and make arrests. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said that he won’t waste a minute in signing the death warrant of the man, who was sentenced to death by a Sharia court for insulting Prophet Muhammad. Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of not being sincere in addressing the rising insecurity in Nigeria. The Nigerian military has said that over 400 members of the Darul Salam Terrorists Group have surrendered with a bomb-making factory belonging to the terrorists decimated. This was announced through a statement by a military spokesperson, Major-General John Enenche. The ousted President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, has been released by Mali mutineers, AFP reports.  The  military mutineers under the aegis National Committee for the Salvation of the People, made this revelation in a post on Facebook, saying Keita has been released and is currently in his residence. A former University of Lagos Governing Council member, Prof Boniface Oye-Adeniran, has urged the Presidential Visitation Panel to the institution to allow a public hearing for transparency purpose. A group under the aegis of Niger Delta Renaissance Coalition has rejected the supervision of the Niger Delta Development Commission’s forensic audit by Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.  Comrade Godknows Sotonye, National Coordinator of the group, in a statement accused Akpabio of manipulating the process of recruiting the forensic auditors in order to cover up his tracks and those of his allies and contractors in the transactions to be audited.  Sotonye said Akpabio was bent on arriving at a predetermined outcome to exonerate him and his allies in the forensic audit report.  He described the audit exercise of NDDC as a sham, saying the process was arranged to protect Akpabio and his cronies.  Stating reasons why Akpabio should not be allowed to supervise the NDDC audit, the group alleged that he single-handedly picked nine audit firms and proceeded to get the Bureau of Public Procurement to give him a Certificate of No Objection to engage the firms for the

Akinwumi Adesina Former Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina, has been re-elected as President of the Africa Development Bank. Adesina was re-elected by the Board of Governors of the bank at the ongoing AfDB’s virtual annual meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Thursday. Akinwumi Adesina Adesina had on Wednesday pledged to reach out to and engage with stakeholders of the bank to ensure stability and progress. The AfDB boss xplained that the past several months had been challenging for the bank but the financial institution pulled together despite the turbulence.
