Nigerian Army Repel Boko Haram Insurgents During Attack On Borno Internally Displaced Persons Camp

The Nigerian Army has repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Dalori internally displaced persons camp beside the University of Maiduguri, Borno State on Sunday. A source told SaharaReporters that the insurgents attacked the IDP camp around 8pm, shooting sporadically. He said troops of the Nigerian Army engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle and repelled the attack.  “The army has successfully repelled the insurgents and mop up operations is currently ongoing,” he said. Insecurity: Northern Youth Warn Politicians To Stop Destabilising Nigeria

The Coalition of Northern Groups for Good Governance has warned politicians it suspects of being behind recent acts of violence especially mass killings in the region to stop destabilising Nigeria.  The group made up of about 35 civil society organisations across the North said the youth are getting impatient with rising insecurity in the region. Speaking at a briefing with journalists on Sunday in Abuja, President of the group, Comrade Abu Mohammed, said those behind the killings aim to cause constant unrest in the Northern part of Nigeria. The group called for support for the country's security agencies to restore peace to the troubled parts of Nigeria.  Mohammed said, "The North and Nigeria is our collective heritage. It is very painful that some dubious characters are aligning with internal and external forces to destroy it. We are angered by this development and it will be a shame for our generation to bear this stigma and therefore, the imperative for caution....

Lagos Discharges 45 More COVID-19 Patients

The Lagos State Government has discharged 45 recovered COVID-19 patients after they tested negative to the virus. This was revealed in a tweet on the Lagos State Ministry of Health official Twitter handle on Sunday. The ministry said the discharged patients include 18 females and 27 males.  The tweet reads, “Today, 45 fully recovered ‪#COVID19Lagos‬ patients; 18 females & 27 males were discharged from our Isolation facilities to reunite with the society. “The patients; 20 from Gbagada, 9 from Onikan, 2 from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, 1 from Agidingbi, 1 from Lekki & 12 from ‪ @LUTHofficial‬ Isolation Centres were discharged after testing negative to ‪#COVID19‬. “With this, the number of ‪#COVID19‬ cases successfully managed & discharged in Lagos has risen to 1328.
