Sharia: Kano Govt Seizes Truck With N25m Worth Of Alcoholic Drinks

The Kano State Government has impounded a truck laden with alcoholic drinks worth over N25m. Nabilusi Abubakar, Public Relations Officer of the State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), disclosed this in a statement. The agency is a member of the state’s task force on unwholesome products, drug abuse and expired products. Abubakar said the truck, which was intercepted around 2:30 am on Thursday along Hadeja Road in Kano metropolis, was on its way to Bello Road to offload its contents when the personnel of the agency, following an intelligence report, intercepted the vehicle. He said the agency had warned that its men would continue to be vigilant to check the activities of persons transporting such prohibited items into the state. Electric Cable Falls In Ibadan, Kills Food Vendor, Commercial Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist, Kabiru, popularly called Oluyole, and a female passenger were reportedly electrocuted in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Thursday evening. SaharaReporters learnt that the motorcyclist was negotiating with a woman when the cable fell on them, killing both of them. Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday celebrated his birthday where COVID-19 protocols like use of face masks and maintaining social distancing were ignored. The governor on Friday celebrated his 53rd birthday. According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Oyo State recorded 28 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and 56 on Thursday. Mahdi Shehu A High Court in Katsina State on Thursday gave an order barring the arrest of human rights activist, Muhammad Mahdi Shehu. The court, in a document seen by SaharaReporters, suspended the enforcement of the arrest warrant issued by the Upper Shari’a Court 2, Nagogo Road, Katsina. Villagers Kill Six Bandits In Kaduna

A mob of angry villagers has killed five bandits and one other was knocked down by a vehicle in Sanga and Lere oocal government areas (LGAs) of Kaduna State. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. Lagos Workers Arrested On Christmas Day For Diverting Company Goods

Two workers in a Lagos State-based company, Francis Obeya and Emanuel Abah, have been arrested by the police in Ogun State on Christmas Day, while stealing and escaping with the company’s goods. The two suspects were apprehended by the Ogbere division of the Ogun State Police Command after the company called the police. Three Nigerians living in Dwarka, New Delhi will be deported as they could not show valid visas or passports for their stay in India, Delhi police said on Wednesday. According to Siasat Daily, the police found Christopher Osinaka, 33; John Paul, 38; and Cynthia Ulunma 28, while the trio were “wandering on the Rama Park Road in Mohan Garden area.”\ They failed to show their visas and passports when asked to. “In view of their violation of visa rules, they have been directed not to move out of the Sewa Sadan at Narela till arrangements are made for their deportation to their native country,” said Dwarka police chief, Santosh Kumar Meena. Veteran Nollywood filmmaker, Chico Ejiro, is dead. He died in the early hours of Christmas day from a seizure. He only just concluded directing his new movie on Christmas Eve. Ejiro was famous for his blockbuster movies in the 90s. He produced movies like Silent Night, Blood Money, Deadly Affair, among several other notable films. Black Xmas: Gunmen Attack Ex-Militant Leader, Ogunbos In His Bayelsa Country Home

Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have attacked the residence of Eris Paul, a former ex-militant leader also known as Ogunbos, at his country home in Peremabiri Community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, burning down his mansion.  According to reports, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, Christmas Day. BREAKING: Gunshots As Hoodlums Attack Traders, Others In Osogbo

Suspected hoodlums Friday morning laid siege to Sabo area of Osogbo and injured some traders and others in the vicinity, Punch reports. Although police officers have been deployed to the scene when our correspondent visited the area, gunshots fired by the hoodlums were still heard a few metres away from where the policemen were stationed. A resident, identified as Amusa, told our correspondent that the attack started late Thursday. Amusa said the hoodlums had claimed to be mourning a colleague with a candlelight procession before they suddenly launched attacks on traders.
