Nigerian-born American based sprinter records fastest time in 200m in 2019

Divine Oborodudu ran the fastest time in the world in 2019 in the Men's 200m while competing for his school in the United States, Texas Tech. The 22-year-old achieved the feat at the Big 12 indoor championships which schools within the United States present. According to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association, the five-time African junior champion ran a time of 20.08 seconds to break the 20.10 mark and became the second collegian to ever do so. Breaking: Saraki loses in one of 4 local governments

Bukola Saraki, the Nigeria’s Senate president has reportedly lost one of the four local governments in the Kwara central senatorial district in Saturday, February 23, National Assembly elections. Saraki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost to APC’s Ibrahim Oloriegbe. There are four local governments in the senatorial district including Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South local governments. While Asa local government’s result has been collated and announced, other local governments were not ready Sunday afternoon. In the official results announced at the INEC office on Sunday for Asa Local Government, Mr Saraki’s PDP scored 11, 252 votes. In the same local government, the APC candidate polled 15,932 votes. The returning officer gave the number of registered voters as 73,425, while accredited voters are 29,023. Results of other three local governments are being awaited as at time of report. In what appears to be one of the major highlights of the 2019 elections, a photo of a ballot box with the wrong spelling of 'house of representative' pasted on it has emerged online and has many internet users talking. The photo which has gone viral sent a message to millions of Nigerians about the competence of some of the polling unit officers who were trusted to carry out elections in several polling units scattered around the nation. The box which was was set aside for voters to cast their votes for their choice of house of representative candidates had 'house of resersatative' pasted on it. Many have seen the mistake as a comic relief but for many it is disappointing that such a mistake can be made especially at such a sensitive occasion as elections.
