President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday celebrated the release of the abducted students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara. Buhari, in a statement signed by Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, described their safe return as a big relief to their families, the entire country and the international community. Gunmen suspected to be bandits have released all students abducted from Government Science Secondary School in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, SaharaReporters has gathered. The students had been in the kidnappers’ den for six days. They are currently on their way to Katsina, sources told SaharaReporters. Sahara Reporters Media Gunmen, who came on motorbikes had last Friday, invaded the school’s premises around 11 pm shooting indiscriminately to scare residents. The operation led to the disappearance of over 300 students. Yekini Nabena The ruling All Progressives Congress has accused a governor from one of the six North-West states as allegedly responsible for the intense upsurge of banditry and killings in the region. Mr Yekini Nabena, the APC acting National Publicity Secretary on Thursday, challenged “security agencies to investigate an intelligence report linking” the governor to the heightened cases of banditry, abductions and other violent crimes in the zone. National Identification Number Required To Get Driver’s License—Nigerian Government

Following the Federal Government’s directives on the harmonisation of citizens’ data by relevant agencies, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a new directive requiring National Identification Number for citizens to get driver’s licence. Bisi Kazeem, Corps Public Education Officer, made the new announcement in a statement on Wednesday. FRSC Facebook Page According to Kazeem, all driver’s license applicants are to present their National Identification Number from December 21, 2020, before they can be attended to, adding that there would be no waiver for anyone. Ghana Postpones Former President Rawlings’ Funeral

Jerry Rawlings Ghana on Thursday postponed the funeral of its charismatic former president Jerry Rawlings, saying the delay was due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Rawlings, who died on November 12 at the age of 73, held sway for two decades, first as a military ruler and later as elected president. But the foreign ministry, in a statement to diplomats and foreign agencies, said that “due to unforeseen circumstances, the funeral will not be held… as planned.” A new date will be announced later, it said.
