My Deputy Saved Me From Death When My Convoy Was Ambushed By Boko Haram Terrorists –Buratai

Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has narrated how his deputy, Lamidi Adeosun, saved his life when he was ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East. Buratai disclosed this in Kuta, Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State, on Monday. He said Adeosun, who is the present Chief of Training and Operations, was a competent officer, whose effort in rejigging the army paved the way for the successful operations in the battle against insurgency in the North-East. TUC Threatens Indefinite Nationwide Strike, Protest Over Petrol, Electricity Tariff Hike

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has threatened to commence an indefinite industrial action and national protest from Wednesday, September 23, 2020 over the recent increase in electricity tariff and petrol price. TUC disclosed this in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday signed by its President, Mr Quadri Olaleye, and Secretary-General, Mr Musa Lawal. The union described the hike in the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff by the Nigerian Government as unfavourable and unfortunate. It said some of the issues that had become worrisome to the working class, their families and the masses included the sudden increase in the pump price of petrol without any definitive and concrete efforts to make the nation’s refineries functional. Muyiwa, one of the sons of Nigeria’s former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige (SAN), has said that his father was killed as a result of jealousy. Muyiwa said this during the 90th posthumous birthday held in honour of the late politician. Train Rams Into Vehicles In Lagos, Kills One

One passenger was killed on Monday when a bus and a sports utility vehicle collided with a moving commuter train at PWD end of Oshodi in Lagos. Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident, said the bus with six passengers suddenly veered onto the tracks and collided with the train. He said, “The agency received distress calls at 8:12 am on the above. Aggrieved citizens under the umbrella of Nigerians against Bad Policies on Monday in Abuja besieged the headquarters of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission in protest over the recent hike in electricity tariff. The group demanded the immediate reversal of the increment, saying the government’s decision to go ahead with the increase was not in the best interest of Nigerians. The protesters were attacked and assaulted by armed policemen, who attempted to break the demonstration. Delta State Government has allegedly barred a journalist, Barry Agbanigbi, from entering Government House over a story he wrote in July 2020, SaharaReporters has learnt. The ban, which was said to have been issued since July 2020 by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Chief Press Secretary, Oliseh Ifeajika, followed a feature story on teenage prostitution in Asaba, the state capital, published on Page 10 of the state-owned newspaper (Pointer Newspaper) of Saturday, July 25, 2020, written by Agbanigbi. Justice Ayo Salami Justice Ayo Salami on Monday caused a stir when he directed security agents to walk out two lawyers, Prof Zainab Duke Abiola and Mr Aliyu Lemu, from the venue of its sitting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
