The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the electoral processes in Rivers state citing widespread irregularities. In a statement signed by Festus Okoye, INEC's national commissioner and chairman of information and voter education committee, the electoral body said it's decision to suspend the elections was based on "reports from our officials in the field". Suspected political thugs have set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ngor Okpuala local government area of Imo state. Former Kano state governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has reportedly lost his own local government, Madobi, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election. Announcing the result, the governorship election’s Collation Officer, Dr Shehu Usman Yahaya, declared that All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 24,491 votes, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 24,309 and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) scored 425 votes.
