Hoodlums Destroy Ondo Monarch’s Palace

Some hoodlums on Tuesday vandalised the palace of the traditional ruler of Ode Community in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Sunday Boboye, destroying several properties. According to Punch, the incident was the second time in one week, as some youths allegedly burnt down the first palace of the monarch last week. After the attack, Oba Boboye was said to have moved to the second palace where he was allegedly attacked again on Tuesday. Court Fixes January 18 For Judgment On AAC’s Exclusion From Edo Election

The Federal High Court sitting in Benin has fixed January 18 for judgment in a suit challenging the exclusion of the African Action Congress and its candidate, Edith Isokpan, in the September 19 governorship election in Edo State. Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission excluded AAC from political parties to contest the election even after the party had successfully conducted its primary election and produced Isokpan as its candidate. The primary election, which was peaceful and orderly, was witnessed by INEC officials. However, while releasing the list of parties approved to contest the election, INEC omitted AAC from the log without any concrete explanation. In a suit filed on July 27, the party alleged that Isokpan was excluded unlawfully, despite being the validly-nominated candidate of the party, in line with the Electoral Act. Nigerian Government Announces Reduction In Fuel Price

The Nigerian government has announced a reduction in the pump price of premium motor spirit, otherwise known as petrol, from N168 to N162.44 per litre with effect from December 14. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, disclosed this at the end of a meeting with labour leaders which began around 9 pm on Monday and ended at 1:30 am on Tuesday. The product presently dispenses at N168, following the decision of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company to increase the ex-depot price of petrol from N147.67 per litre to N155.17 per litre in November. The ex-depot price is the price at which the PPMC sells the product to marketers at the depots. The minister said a technical committee had been set up to ensure price stability in the industry. Group Urges World Leaders To Include Indigenous People In Conservation Efforts

24-Year-Old Chisom Adams Jailed In UK For Blackmailing Girlfriend With Sex Tape

Chisom Adams, a 24-year-old man, suspected to be a Nigerian, has bagged a 40-month jail term for using a secret sex tape to blackmail his former girlfriend after they broke up. Adams, who had secretly taped the sex act with his older girlfriend, had recently demanded £3,000 from the mother of three, warning that if she failed to pay, he would release the video to all her children. According to Daily Mail, the victim, known as MM, had moved out of the country to another to avoid seeing him as she was nursing suicidal thoughts. However, Adams had sent the sex tape to the victim after which he sent a series of threatening messages on Facebook. The humiliated victim, who had been dating Adams for a year, offered to pay him £1,000 but instead went to the police and he was arrested.
