Three Nigerians Arrested In Kenya Over Disappearance Of 15-year-old Girl

Three Nigerian nationals were on Sunday arrested in connection with the disappearance of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Ruaka, Kiambu County, Kenya. Also arrested was a Kenyan woman identified as Neema Maisori, 20, who was found in the company with the three men. The Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) disclosed this in a Facebook post on Sunday. According to DCI, the Nigerians identified as Morah Stanley Apple, Boniface Nnamdi Nkachukwulu and Godwin Ovoepeke were arrested at Courtyard Apartments where the teenager was last seen. The security agency said the missing teenager was seen visiting the said apartment and also in company with the three men at different times during the festive period. Sowore, Others Plead Not Guilty To Police Trumped-Up Charges, Magistrate Says Activists Should Have Access To Phones

The police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, arraigned human rights’ activist, Omoyele Sowore, and his colleagues at the Wuse Magistrate Court. The police arraigned Sowore, Juwon Sanyaolu, Damilare Adenola, Peter and Kimrere in court. The activists, who were initially not allowed access to their lawyers, were arraigned on the trumped-up charges of unlawful assembly, criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbance. The activists pleaded not guilty to the charges. The FCT police prepared the charges against the activists, despite calls from global and national rights groups condemning the police brutality, arrest and detention. In court, the case was between the activists and the FCT Commissioner of Police. One J.C.A. Idachaba is the lawyer leading the FCT command prosecution team that includes Adama Musa and D. J. However, the trumped-up charges on which he was arraigned are still shrouded in mystery. The FCT police have prepared trumped-up charges against the activists, despite calls from global and national rights groups condemning the police brutality, arrest and detention. Some members of the National Association Of Academic Technologists, NAAT, have revealed that they are asked to pay bribes before getting their dues from the Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS).  The Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) department was created in 2007 in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), and in 2016, the Nigerian government began moves to automate the payroll and human resource database for the Federal Civil Service. Before IPPIS, salaries of federal civil servants were paid into the accounts of different ministries, departments and agencies for disbursement. At the association’s National Executive Council meeting on Sunday, there was a resolve for members to pay a levy of N30,000 each for renegotiation and strategic projects. Adamawa Police Stop Beach Party ‘To Prevent Nudity’, Threaten To Arrest Sponsors

The Adamawa State Police Command has prevented a beach party from holding over concerns of “immorality”. In a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police said there are concerns that the party might promote nudity. It also threatened to arrest the sponsors of the party, planned to be held in Yola, the state capital. The statement read, “We restricted this event to protect the social dignity, culture, values and morals of the state; any person caught promoting the party or engaged in anyways will be charged to the law (sic). “Personnel have been deployed to conduct a ground survey on the organisers, sponsors and venue where the immoral party scheduled to hold.” The advertisement of ‘Yola Beach Party’ had indicated that the event was slated for January 3. Deborah Okezie, mother of Don Davis Archibong, the JSS 1 student of the Deeper Life High School, Uyo, Akwa Ibom,  who was molested, says her Facebook account has been disabled.  Okezie, who had always utilised the Facebook page in her quest for justice, had earlier decried the removal of the video she made about her son’s ordeal at the school. The distraught mother alleged that people she believes are supporters of the Deeper Life Church reported the video to Facebook.
