The Turn of the Screw (2009 film) . The Turn of the Screw is a British television film based on Henry James's 1898 ghost story of the same name. Commissioned and produced by the BBC, it was first broadcast on 30 December 2009, on BBC One. The novella was adapted for the screen by Sandy Welch, and the film was directed by Tim Fywell. Although generally true to the tone and story of James's work, the film is set in the 1920s instead of the 1840s. The story is told in flashbacks during consultations between the institutionalised Ann, played by Michelle Dockery (pictured), and a psychiatrist, Dr Fisher (Dan Stevens). Ann tells how she was hired by an aristocrat (Mark Umbers) to care for the orphans Miles (Josef Lindsay) and Flora (Eva Sayer) at their home, Bly House. Ann soon begins to see unknown figures around the manor, and seeks an explanation. Lagos Deputy Governor Arrests Commercial Bus Drivers

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has apprehended two commercial drivers and their buses for driving against traffic. According to News Agency of Nigeria, the commercial drivers were apprehended at Majidun area of Ikorodu on Saturday The buses with registration numbers FKJ 704 XK and FKJ 864 XV, were driving inward Ikorodu using the outward Ikorodu Lane. The two buses and drivers were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer at Owode Onirin Police Station for necessary action. First Bank Commends Police, Army For Foiling Robbery At Abuja Branch

First Bank of Nigeria has hailed the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Army for foiling a robbery by armed men in one of its Abuja branch. The bank, in a statement by Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, said it truly appreciated the valiant effort by the joint security agencies to stop the robbery attacks. The statement reads, "We wish to inform everyone that the attempted robbery incident that happened at one of our branches in Abuja has been foiled; customers and staff are unhurt; and the suspects have been apprehended. "The immediate response by the police and military is very commendable and we truly appreciate them for their doggedness and commitment." Gunmen Attack Home Of Edo State Deputy Governor

Some gunmen have invaded the home of Dr Philip Shaibu, Edo State deputy governor. The gunmen were reported to have stormed the home when the occupants were sleeping. They were however, repelled by neighbours while one of the hoodlums was caught, The Nation reports. The name of the arrested suspect was given as Victor John. He named other suspects to include Uche Ogoke, Monday Kingsley, Pius Lucky and Sunday Goodluck. Other suspects were arrested at different locations but one of them was able to evade arrest. Two Men In Police Net For Defrauding Access Bank Manager Of N70m

Two suspected fraudsters are in police net for defrauding a bank manager of N70m. Spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, told journalists on Saturday in Yola, the capital, that the suspects, Oluba Falaye and Abidakun Gbenga, were residents of Lagos and Ado-Ekiti respectively. Nguroje said two accomplices of the suspects, one of whom is a local government chairman in Ekiti Dtate, were at large. He said, "The Command received report from one Olurunfemi Michael, a manager of Access Bank Plc, Yola Branch, that on 11/12/2019, some men approached him and defrauded him of $200,000 which if converted into naira is N70m. "Investigation led to the arrest of Oluba Falaye and Abidakun Gbenga all residents of Lagos and Ado-Ekiti. "So far recovered are $30,400, one Lexus and Toyota Camry cars valued at N14m." UPDATE: 76 Killed, 90 Injured In Mogadishu Bomb Attack

RFI No less than 76 persons have been confirmed dead from the high-impact blast that struck Mogadishu on Saturday morning, AFP reported. Director of private Aamin ambulance service, Abdukadir Abdirahman Haji, informed the news agency that his company has confirmed 76 dead and 70 injured. “The number of casualties we have confirmed is 76 dead and 70 wounded, it could still be higher.” However, the mayor of the Somali capital, Omar Mohamud Mohamed, informed a press conference that 90 persons had been injured and the number of dead are still on the rise. “We will confirm the exact number of the dead later but it is not going to be small, most of the dead were innocent university students and other civilians,” he said. Residents Protest Incessant Accidents By Heavy Duty Trucks In Ondo Community

Residents of Iwaro-Oka in Akoko area of Ondo State have again cried out over the continued fatal accidents mostly caused heavy duty trucks on their road. They noted that no fewer than 10 persons have been killed by accident between October and December 2019 on Akungba/Oka Road. Angered by the latest accident, which occured last week on the route, the locals besieged the streets on Saturday in a protest to register their displeasure. The protesters mostly elderly women and later joined by some angry youths, blocked Oka Road for several hours. Jerome Orole, Chairman of the community, said the incessant accidents on the road was caused by trailers. Orole explained how several lives had been lost on the road including properties worth millions of naira. BREAKING: Police, Army Prevent Armed Robbers From Escaping From Abuja Bank

There is a standoff currently going on in Mpape in Abuja between a gang of armed robbers, the police and Nigerian Army after the hoodlums invaded a first generation bank. The armed robbers were said to have stormed the bank, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away. They were said to have succeeded in gaining entry into the banking hall. Shortly after gaining access, the police and army arrived the scene but the robbers had refused to come out of the bank. It was gathered that one of the robbers, attempted to force his way out was shot but remained indoor with gunshot injury.
