My Boss'll Not Shake Hands With Any Woman He Isn't Married To, Nigeria's Communications Minister's Aide Tells Abike Dabiri-Erewa As Crisis Continues

The face off between Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Ali Pantami, and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians In Diaspora Commission; Abike Dabiri-Erewa, assumed a new and messier twist after the minister's spokeperson, Uwa Suleiman, accused Dabiri-Erewa of crossing the line. The minister and NIDCOM boss had engaged in a disagreemen t since February this year after Pantami allegedly ordered the eviction of the agency from the building accommodating it.  In an article written by Suleiman titled, "Abike Dabiri-Erewa: Season of falsehood, smear campaigns and ridiculous tactics", and posted on her twitter handle, she accused the NIDCOM boss of having a personal grudge against Pantami.  Suleiman added that the decision of her boss not to shake hands with any woman was a personal principle and that if anyone felt offended by that they were free to go to court.  She said, "Dr Pantami does not and will not shake any woman he is not married to. COVID-19: No Shaking Of Hands, Hugging In Religious Centres, Ondo Government Tells Worshipers After Lifting Ban

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu The Ondo State Government has said it will shut down any worship centre that fails to comply with the strict measures guiding the partial lifting of the ban on religious activities in the state.  Dr Wahab Adegbenro, Commissioner for Health and Chairman, Inter-ministerial Committee on COVID-19, stated this on Friday in Akure, the state capital. He noted that part of the rules considered for the reopening of worship centres was for people to avoid hugging, hand shake and holding of hands during prayers.  Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Adegbenro said all worshipers must put on face masks, adding that churches and mosques must provide soap and running water for hand washing with hand sanitizers.  The commissioner said government task force will be moving round religious houses to ensure strict compliance with the rule.  He said, "Churches and mosques must be decontaminated before and after each service. Olusegun Obasanjo Nigeria's former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has sacked staff of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, SaharaReporters has confirmed. In a letter by its Head of Human Resources, Administration and Procurement, Olanike Ogunleye, the management of the OPL said the organisation was overwhelmed by the adverse effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and had found it hard to sustain its workforce. The letter reads in part, "As you are aware, the current COVID-19 pandemic has had a toll on all our business significantly. This has resulted to making some difficult business decisions. Due to this situation, we regret to inform you that your employment will be put on hold till further notice.   Olusegun Obasanjo "You are to hand over all company properties in your possession to the human resource department, who shall do a confirmation of the exit clearance process before your final entitlements (if any) would be paid."

Abacha Stole Close To $1bn As Head Of State, Says President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that late General Sani Abacha, Nigeria’s late military Dictator, stole close to $1bn between 1993 and 1998. Buhari in an article published in Newsweek, a United States-based publication, thanked countries that have returned the looted funds back to Nigeria. Though the President did not mention the name of Sani Abacha directly, it was clear that he was referring to the late dictator. Justice Dongban Mensem President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the appointment of Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as Acting President of the Court of Appeal for another three months. This was contained in a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Friday. Lagos Youth Demand Compensation For Family Of Teenager Killed By Police

Youths in Lagos have demanded that the Nigeria Police Force adequately compensate the family of Ezekwe Tina, a teenage girl killed by policemen in Lagos. Oworo Youth Forum are also demanding that the officers involved in the killing, ASP Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke attached to Bariga Police Station, must be made to face the full wrath of the law. It was gathered that the policemen, who were trying to enforce curfew at the end of the Third Mainland Bridge, shot at the driver of a commercial bus. Segalink, Don Jazzy Condemnations have continued to trail the killing of unarmed villagers in Southern Kaduna communities by armed Fulani herdsmen.  Between May 19 to 24, herdsmen have killed scores of persons in many communities in the area.  Reacting to the killings, music producer, Don Jazzy, expressed concern over government’s failure to act on the killings despite the frequency of occurrence.  He said, "The pictures of inhabitants of Southern Kaduna, who were gruesomely killed in bandits' attacks in the past few days is such a sorry sight to behold. Christian Association Of Nigeria Tells Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai, To Re-open Religious Centres

The Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has asked Governor Nasir El-Rufai to re-open religious centres in the state. The association, in a letter directed to Kaduna deputy governor and chairperson, Standing Committee on COVID-19, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, and signed by the Kaduna State CAN Chairman, Reverend Joseph Hayab, highlighted suggested guidelines for worship regulations in accordance with the protocol of COVID-19. Following the recent review of the lockdown and allowing Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as days of relaxing lockdown, CAN said El-Rufai should include religious days in the lockdown reviews.  Suggesting its guidelines, CAN said churches will disinfect their premises first before they are re-opened for services. Displaced Persons In Sokoto Roam Streets Of Sabon Birni After Deadly Attack

Hundreds of women and children displaced by frequent attacks by gunmen on villages under Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been roaming around the town, begging for food and shelter.
