Ile Arugbo: How Late Olusola Saraki Illegally Took Over Land Proposed For Public Hospital

Documents have shown that the land, which until recently housed Ile Arugbo, a property belonging to former Nigerian politician, Olusola Saraki, was in fact originally scheduled to be used for the construction of a public hospital, secretariat for civil servants in Kwara State, and parking lot in the 1980's. SaharaReporters gathered that the late Saraki allotted the land to himself when he served as a federal lawmaker in the 1980s and used it to construct a home for old people, who regularly visited his abode for assistance. A clinic was however, built but was never fully completed because the land was fraudulently assigned to one Asa Investment for commercial purposes. The Kwara State Bureau of Lands has revealed that no money was paid for the acquisition, no paperwork filed and no certificate of occupancy issued to the company. To reclaim the land for the construction of the hospital, the demolition of Ile Arugbo was taken by the Committee on Review of Property of K

'Sins' Of The Buharis! By Ozodinukwe Okenwa

SOC Okenwa SOC Okenwa   The presidential family anywhere in the world are one of power, privilege and limitless opportunities. But Africa remains an exception, a 'special' case for reasons of power abuse and absolutism. Take just four examples from Senegal to Equatorial Guinea, Gabon to Angola. Nigeria may not be among the four but that does not mean that the presidential offsprings in our homeland are immune from power abuse or corruption. Mohammed Abacha is 'eminently' qualified to be included in this list. The late tyrant Sani Abacha's son was notorious during his father's despotism for his brutality and cupidity. While the late maximum ruler stole in billions his son pilfered in millions of dollars! When the old 'ugly' Abdoulaye Wade was in power in Dakar some years ago, his 'white' son, Karim, was a super minister with multiple supervising ministerial portfolios. So limitless and uncontrollable was the power he wielded that he was

Why Nigeria Must Break Up By Remi Oyeyemi

Remi Oyeyemi Remi Oyeyemi   “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common with unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” –Calvin Coolidge “To choose the right moment in which to act is the great art of men…” –Napolean Bonaparte I have been watching the fast pace with which the so-called country of Nigeria has been tumbling towards tragedy. I have been watching the tragedy it has become for its peoples. I have been watching the disgrace it has become for those who carry its green passports. I have reached the conclusion that salvaging Nigeria is a mission impossible. I have reached the conclusion that breaking up Nigeria is the only viable option. There is no other way out. I am aware that there are many, who mouth unity every day when in fact they do not believe in it.

Stranger Sneaks Into Sowore's Temporary Abuja Abode, Assaults Female Activist, Vandalises Electronics

Omoyele Sowore Omoyele Sowore   A yet to be identified man, who neighbours claimed to be mentally challenged, on Sunday morning found his way into the temporary abode of recently released pro-democracy campaigner and journalist, Omoyele Sowore, in Abuja, assaulting a female activist and vandalising electronic items in the process. The unknown man, who sneaked into the apartment at about 11:00am, went straight into the living room and sat comfortably in front of the television set as if in his house. Minutes later, he walked into the kitchen but was challenged by a few of Sowore's friends inside the house. He ignored the individuals, walked to the back of the house, paced to the front of the building before activists around the place challenged him. However, in the bid of the activists to ascertain where he came from and how he got into Sowore's residence, the heavily-built stranger charged at a female activist, rained several blows on her before tearing her cloth

Buhari Doing Nothing To End Killings, Persecution Of Christians By Fulani –European Union

The European parliament, legislative branch of the European Union, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of overseeing the persecution of Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria where Sharia law is in practice. The EU in a new report released on January 16, 2020 said over 6000 Christians had been murdered by "Fulani militants whereas in Sharia states, Christians face constant discrimination and are often considered second class citizens”. The report further adds that, “These attacks have continued with total impunity with perpetrators rarely being held to account whereas Amnesty International report has demonstrated wilful negligence by the Nigerian security forces concerning deadly attacks against farming communities.” The report says Buhari's poor handling of Nigeria's deteriorating situation in the North-East has worsened as non-governmental organisations ready to help are denied access by the Nigerian Government for political re
