Tight security, heavy traffic as Anambra, Enugu await President Buhari

There was tight security in and around Holy Trinity Cathedral in Onitsha, Anambra, open ground venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday January 24. Supreme Court refuses to hear 14 pre-election appeals, cites constitutional amendment

- The Supreme Court has refused to hear about 14 pre-election appeals on the grounds that they were caught by the amendment to a section of the constitution - The amendment to Section 285 of the constitution requires the determination of pre-election cases by the trial court, within 180 days - The apex court explained that all pre-election appeals that were not determined within the stipulated time are no longer valid, due to the effect of amendment The Supreme Court has refused to hear about 14 pre-election appeals on the grounds that they were caught by the amendment to Section 285 of the constitution, which took effect from June 7, 2018. A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, January 24, convicted two former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials over Diezani Alison-Madueke’s deal. Legit.ng previously reported that an arrest warrant has been issued for former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, by the International Police following a request by the federal government through the office of the attorney general of the federation to the agency.
