Adekunle Akinlade, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in Ogun state, on Wednesday, January 2, declared that he contributed to the success story of the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The Punch reports that Akinlade made this known during a courtesy call on the Egba Traditional Council at the Ake Palace.

Akinlade said he and his running mate, Adepeju Adebajo, were the most capable candidates to take over from the present administration adding that the state would be the pride of Africa in the next 10 to 15 years if elected.

He added that the legacy of Amosun’s administration deserved to be sustained, promising that no project started by the governor would be abandoned by his administration .

According to him, “When I met Amosun, I met a man of vision who knew what he wanted for the state. But the initial challenge we faced was finance. I was part of the history which increased our IGR to what it is today before I was given a federal assignment in Abuja.

“What you are seeing in Ogun is less than 10 per cent of the vision Amosun has for the state. Part of the blueprint is the rail project across major towns in the state. I will ensure the rail project materialises and it will be the pride of Africa in the next 10 to 15 years.

“We have the best team to take over from Amosun. Apart from my experience in the state and House of Representatives, I have a running mate who has served in many multinational companies and even the public sector.”

While seeking the blessing of the traditional rulers, Akinlade said the result of the election would not be determined in Abuja but by people of the state who were subjects of the traditional rulers.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Ogun chapter of the APC cautioned the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to be mindful of his outbursts against the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The party in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Caretaker Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, said the governor deserved to be pitied and prayed for, over his recent comments against the APC governorship candidate.

The development he said was smacked of “outgoing syndrome, emanating from political amnesia and loss of touch with reality”

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
