Jungle Justice Under Islamic Law By Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo

Jungle justice has been repeatedly happening day in day out in many Muslim communities in Nigeria. In fact, the act has become popular not only among Muslim communities but in the Nigerian society in general. Only a few months ago, to be precise, on March 15, 2010, a taxi driver called Umaru Mohammed alias Marau-Marau was mercilessly killed and burnt to ashes in Kano by some youths, majority of whom were identified as commercial motorcycle operators, on the allegation that the deceased had kidnapped three school children.  But a comprehensive police investigation report revealed that the deceased, (a gentle and easy going taxi driver during his life-time) was not a kidnapper but only had a traffic disagreement with some motorcyclists when they stopped at a junction along BUK Road, and the motorcyclists got annoyed with his action and chased him. When he was forced to stop at Kofar Na’isa by the motorcyclists, he alighted from his cab and started fighting them back. Noticing that

Fire And Fury In The States! By Ozodinukwe Okenwa

SOC Okenwa The United Sates of America is doubtlessly a great nation that is unique in many ways. She has a unique President named Donald Trump(et). I call him 'trumpet' because he has mastered the art of trumpeting his achievements or lack of same thereof in a nauseating self-glorifying fashion never before seen in the hundreds of years of history of democratic America. Some critics (including the megastar Lady Gaga recently) had labelled him "buffoon", "imbecile" or "racist" yet he has refused doggedly to change his ways. Leading an emancipated nation is quite different from playing with money as a billionaire!  America boasts of millionaires and billionaires including the eccentric President himself. It is home to the Gates, Bezos, Zuckerbergs and Dorseys; Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Amazon and Google. America acts effectively as a superpower, a global 'gendarme', sometimes imposing its will on the rest of us. America is Americ

BREAKING: Ex-Abia Governor, Kalu, Released From Kuje Prison

A former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Kalu, who was jailed for allegedly stealing public funds, has been released from custody. SaharaReporters gathered that Kalu was freed from the Kuje facility in Abuja on Wednesday evening. A source close to the former governor said he was now in his Abuja residence, off Queen Amina Street, within the perimeter of Aso Rock Presidential Villa. A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court had on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of Kalu from the correctional centre. Mohammed Liman, the judge, granted an application moved by his counsel Lateef Fagbemi seeking his release. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission did not oppose the application.  The former governor had urged the court to set aside his conviction on December 5, 2019 by Justice Mohammed Idris. He explained that this became necessary since the Supreme Court in its verdict delivered on May 8, 2020, held that Justice Idris gave the judgment without jurisdiction

George Floyd: Buhari Happy About Police Brutality In America Because Human Rights Abuse Is His Trademark, Deji Adeyanju Says

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, believes President Muhammadu Buhari will not condemn reports of police brutality in America because he has supervised repression and killings of Nigerian protesters agitating for their rights. Adeyanju spoke with SaharaReporters on Tuesday while reacting to the silence of the President on the killing of George Floyd. Floyd, an African-America, lost his life after a police officer, Derek Chauvin on May 25 in Minneapolis knelt on his neck for over eight minutes despite Floyd telling him he could not breathe.  Chauvin had since been charged with third-degree murder and will appear in court next week.  Three other police officers linked to the incident have been fired. Adeyanju said if millions of Nigerians bombarded the street to protest against police brutality as done in America, no security agency would be able to suppress their voices. He said, “It would be laughable if President Buhari dares condemn any extrajudicial killings because
