Lagos Private Hospital Unknowingly Treats COVID-19 Patient, Advices Visitors To Facility In Last One Week To Self-isolate

A private hospital in Lagos State, St Edwards Hospital, Ajah, has asked all persons, who visited the facility between Saturday, April 11 and Wednesday April 15, 2020 to self-isolate. The hospital claimed to had inadvertently attended to a patient with COVID-19. The patient with cardiac symptoms, was said to have been admitted to the hospital on April 11 because the medical director of the facility was a cardiologist. “The patient did not volunteer information about previous contact with a COVID-19 case.  "The hospital received a call from NCDC on Sunday, April 12, 2020, with details of the patient and stated that they were on their way to come collect patient’s sample for testing.  “The hospital received the team from NCDC and sample was taken from the patient that same day.  "NCDC communicated the result on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, which confirmed the patient to be positive and said they were coming to evacuate the patient. BREAKING: Five Medical Workers At UNILORIN Test Positive For Coronavirus

Five medical workers at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State, have tested positive for Coronavirus.  An official of the hospital told SaharaReporters that three resident doctors, one consultant and one nurse all tested positive to the virus.  Recall that a senior consultant with the teaching hospital, Alakija Salami, was suspended by management of the hospital for covering up the status and death of a patient, who recently returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom, Alhaji Muideen Obanimomo, a prominent Offa son.  The patient, who died on April 3, infected his wife with the virus before his demise. It is suspected that he may have also infected the five health workers before his death.  It is not yet clear how many persons had contact with the late Obanimomo before his demise. COVID-19: Adamawa Quarantines 100 Returnees From Lagos, Other States

About 100 persons, who recently returning from Lagos and other states to Adamawa, have been quarantined to ensure they do not have Coronavirus. The affected returnees, mostly factory workers from Lagos and Ogun states, would be isolated and observed for 14 days in line with the guidelines issued by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. Currently, 59 of the returnees have been isolated at a facility at Numan, while 40 others are quarantined at the Kpacham facility under Demsa Local Government Area of the state. Chairman of the state COVID-19 Containment Committee, who doubles as Secretary to the state Government, Bashir Ahmad, ordered the isolation of the returnees on Friday. The SSG, who led a team of experts and security operatives to monitor compliance with the interstate travel ban, expressed worry that state governments in the North were not collaborating in the enforcement of the lockdown. Donations To Nigeria's COVID-19 Relief Fund Hit N25.8bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 donations had risen to N25.8bn. BREAKING: 51 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 51 new Coronavirus cases in the country. This brings the total number of cases in the country to 493, seven shy of the 500 mark.  Of the new cases announced, 32 was recorded in Lagos while six was discovered in Kano State. Son Of Kaduna Governor, Bello El-Rufai, Apologises For Threatening To 'Rape' Twitter User's Mother

Bello, son of Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has apologised for threatening to 'rape' a Twitter user's mother. In a short statement on Friday, Bello, who had earlier said he would not retract his comments, apologised for threatening to sexually assault the user's mother. The statement reads, "A few days ago, I made a comment that was wrong, unbecoming and contrary to the values on which I was raised. I wish to withdraw that statement and apologise to the gentleman concerned for the hurtful comments. I apologise for appearing to attack an entire ethnic group for the misdeed of one person.  "I regret the sexual innuendo in the private message, and apologise unreservedly for it. I wish to state very strongly that the statement was made during the heat of the moment and I wish to put on the record that I do not condone sexual violence." Oyo Records Two New Coronavirus Cases

Oyo State has recorded two new Coronavirus cases.  Governor Seyi Makinde made this known on Friday night in a post on his Twitter account. He said, “During the COVID-19 Task Force meeting today, we were informed that two more tests came back positive. “So, we have four new cases from the tests being conducted at Adamasigba Stadium.  "This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to seven.” During the COVID-19 Task Force meeting today, we were informed that two more tests came back positive. COVID-19: South-West States To Begin Enforcement On Wearing Of Nose Mask

Governors of Nigeria's South-West states of Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos, Ogun and Oyo have agreed to ensure that residents put on nose masks while coming out of their houses effective from next week Friday.  The announcement was made in a statement on Friday by Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State, who is Chairman of South-West Governors Forum. The statement reads, “South-West governors at its virtual meeting held on Thursday, 16 April, 2020 resolved that as owner-state governors, we dissolve the board of directors of Odu’a Investment Limited with immediate effect. “The Group Managing Director should take charge of the conglomerate's affairs pending the constitution of a new board. “That the entry points of our six states be closed forthwith to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. “The governors further agreed that wearing of nose masks will be made compulsory for everybody coming out of their homes effective from Friday, 24 April, 2020 in their respective st
