PDP Accuses APC Of Plot To Alter Edo Election Result

APC vs PDP cartoon The Peoples Democratic Party has accused the All Progressives Congress of plotting to alter the result of the Edo State governorship election. Gunmen Attack Kogi Community, Kill One, Abduct Three

Some gunmen have attacked Egume community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing one person and abducting three others. The gunmen, who allegedly dressed in Fulani attire, stormed Royal Garden Relaxation Spot on Anyigba-Ankpa Highway in the community on Thursday night. It was gathered that the deceased was struggling to escape before he was shot dead, while one of his friends, who was sharing the same table with him was also shot and now receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital. Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Ede, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. Ede said, “I received a report from Egume Division that three armed men attacked Royal Garden Relaxation Spot shooting sporadically. “Immediately, the DPO mobilised operatives to the scene where he met one yet to be identified body lying in a pool of his blood. My men moved him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. The body was deposited at the hospital for autopsy.

Ad Hoc Staff For Edo Election Protest Non-payment Of Allowances

Some ad hoc staff recruited for the Edo State governorship election are currently protesting in Okada area of Ovia North-East Local Government Area over the non-payment of their allowances by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The youth corps members, as well as unemployed graduates, hauled insults and abuses at officials of the INEC for failing to pay N8,500 training and feeding allowances promised by the commission. They accused the officials of an attempt to embezzle their allowances, which was supposed to have been paid on the eve of the election. How Policeman, APC Thugs Brutalised Me For Stopping Ballot Snatcher –Edo Resident

A resident of Edo State, who identified himself as Charity, has explained how he was beaten by policemen and thugs suspected to be working for the All Progressives Congress for stopping a ballot snatcher at Unit 01, Adesuwa Primary School, Ward 7, Oredo Local Government. Charity told SaharaReporters that immediately the thugs arrived at the unit, the policemen started shooting. He said voters and electoral officers scampered to safety, a development, which made it possible for the thugs to carry away ballot boxes, ballot papers and other sensitive election materials. “As the guy was running away with the ballot box, I ran after him. I caught up with him and immediately held him. Before I knew what was happening, some policemen came and started beating me. “They asked me why I had to hold the guy, that was my business with a ballot box snatcher, they were joined by APC supporters. Edo Governor, Obaseki, Wins Polling Unit

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election in the state. Voting at Polling Unit 19, Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area, Obaseki polled 184 votes while All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, got 62 votes. In Unit 21 of the same ward, the PDP garnered 53 votes while the APC polled 33 votes. Obaseki’s PDP polled 70 votes ahead of Ize-Iyamu’s APC that garnered 65 votes. The Concerned Nigerians group has condemned the conduct of the governorship election in Edo State, describing the exercise as a coup. School Building Collapses In Lagos

Lagos witnessed another building collapse on Saturday when a three-storey building at Ansarudeen Street, Ile-Epo, Ejigbo caved in. A school, Excel College, is housed in the collapsed building. Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the building partially collapsed at about 8:15am. He said, “Information gathered from some officials of the school revealed that the building had previously shown signs of distress and the school was planning to renovate and refortify the structure. “The three-storey building has two wings conjoined. The wing that collapsed has seriously affected the second wing as visible cracks can be seen on the walls, pillars and decking. “Fortunately, nobody was trapped, no injury and no fatality has been recorded.
