Ondo Residents Join Protest Calling For Scrapping Of SARS

Concerned residents of Ondo State have joined the nationwide protest to demand the total scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.  The protesters stormed the streets of Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state to express their feelings. BREAKING: Lagos Assembly Speaker, Obasa, Denied Bail By EFCC, To Spend Night At Commission’s Office

Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has been denied bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he was invited for questioning earlier on Thursday. SaharaReporters had on Wednesday reported that Obasa and some top accounting officials in the Lagos Assembly were invited by the EFCC for questioning. Abike Dabiri-Erewa The Nigerian Government has condemned the killing of a Nigerian migrant worker in Tripoli, Libya. Determined to silence their agitation, police officers in Abuja have again launched a violent attack on members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria popularly known as Shiites, during a protest to demand the freedom of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife, Zeenat. Italy has made it compulsory to wear nose masks in public as part of measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus. The new directive adds that all Italians must also wear nose cover in their houses. Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party National Campaign Council for Info State Governorship election, has rejected Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede as the Independent National Electoral Commission Chief Returning Officer for the exercise. Gunmen Kidnap One Person In Abuja

Some gunmen have reportedly abducted one person in Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. The abduction took place on Wednesday night at about 8:30pm. The kidnappers fired several gunshots at a Volkswagen car, leaving the occupants with varying degree of injuries. Chairman of Pegi Community Development Association, Mr Taiwo Aderibigbe, confirmed the incident to journalists. The incident has sent panic across the area with resident now afraid to move around the area freely. Public Relations Officer of FCT Police Command, Manzal Anjuguri, was not available for comment when contacted. Students, Parents Protest As Delta State Higher Institutions Impose COVID-19 Fees On Undergraduates

Students of Delta State tertiary institutions and their parents have protested over the imposition of compulsory N10,000 fee on them by their schools’ authorities. The institutions had asked students to pay the fee tagged ‘upgrade of COVID-19 facilities’. At the Delta State University, Abraka, returning undergraduate and diploma students for the 2019/2020 academic session are to compulsorily pay N5,000 each while postgraduate students are to pay N10,000 each. SaharaReporters gathered that the payment, which applied to the three campuses of the institution, Oleh, Abraka and Anwai, must be paid before students are allowed for academic activities.
