Liverpool Win First English Premier League Title In 30 Years

Liverpool FC Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions without kicking a ball on Thursday as Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City ended the Reds’ 30-year wait to win the English title, a report by AFP said. Jurgen Klopp’s men sealed a 19th league title for the club with a record seven games left to play after second placed City’s defeat left them 23 points adrift. Liverpool had moved within two points of the title with a 4-0 demolition of Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday. Their 28th win in 31 league games this season prompted Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to declare “now is our time to win the league” and 24 hours later his wish was granted.  Liverpool FC Liverpool got the favour they wanted from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. English Premier League soccer ball The English Premier League will resume on June 17 after the 20 clubs in the division agreed “in principle” to return to play and complete the remainder of the 2019-20 season that was halted in mid-March due to the Coronavirus outbreak. It was revealed that Manchester City versus Arsenal will be one of the first matches to be played. JUST IN: Enyimba Player, One Other Person Abducted In Ondo

Dayo Ojo, a football player with Enyimba Football Club of Aba, has been abducted by gunmen in Ondo State.  Ojo was kidnapped on Sunday alongside a friend identified as Benjamin Iluyomade of Abia Comet.  SaharaReporters learnt that the two footballers were waylaid on Benin-Owo Road in Ondo State. Another player identified as Emma James, who escaped the attack,  confirmed the kidnap to journalists.   He said, "We were traveling on the road when the gunmen came out from the bush and attacked us. "They shot sporadically before abducting some people in the vehicle including the two players but I managed to escape." Coronavirus: Paulo Dybala and Paolo Maldini Test Positive

  Juventus and Argentina forward, Paulo Dybala, and former Italy captain, Paolo Maldini, have tested positive for Coronavirus, according to BBC.  In a message on his Instagram account, Dybala said he and his girlfriend both have the virus but were in good health. "Both Oriana and I have tested positive," Dybala, 26, said.  "Luckily we are in perfect conditions," he added.  AC Milan Technical Director, Maldini, and his son, Daniel, both tested positive and a club statement said they "are well".  The club added that Daniel Maldini, 18, had been training with the AC Milan first team and that he and his father, 51, had spent two weeks in self-isolation at home and would remain in quarantine "until clinically recovered". Inmates Organise 40th Birthday Party For Ronaldinho In Paraguayan Prison

  Barcelona and Brazil legend, Ronaldinho, is spending his 40th birthday in a Paraguayan prison. The World Cup winner was jailed earlier this month along with his brother after entering the South American country with a fake passport. Ronaldinho took part in a football tournament in the prison last week and led his team to victory and the first prize – a 16kg suckling pig. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Brazilian legend has had to spend more time in prison than was originally expected.  According to Standard UK, inmates organised a barbecue party on Saturday to keep the former Ballon d'Or winner in good spirits on his 40th birthday.
