Sarri leaves Chelsea fans confused after admitting he does not know what 'Sarriball' means

- Maurizio Sarri's tactics at Stamford Bridge have in recent times come under sharp criticism

- The possession-based tactic was dubbed Sarriball by a sectional of football fans

- The Chelsea boss has now distanced himself from the brand

Under-fire Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has distanced himself from his possession-based tactic christened Sarriball by football fans.

The tactician introduced the possession style of football when he arrived at Stamford Bridge last year August.

A strategy that almost won him the Serie A title while at Napoli, but few months after replacing Antonio Conte, the London club are already struggling under his leadership.

The fans have however attributed the Blues' poor form in the recent past to the tactical input from the manager.

With the Blues currently sixth on the table with 50 points - same points as north London side Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the fans were heard chanting 'F*** Sarriball' at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea were stunned 2-0 by Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Italian tactician has now come out to dissociate himself from the slogan, claiming he does not know what it is.

"I don't know the meaning of Sarriball. As I said in England on the first day, I don't know what Sarriball is," he insisted according to Goal.com.

"I think it's from a journal. In Italy, I think. I have never heard it. I don't know [if it would be easier without the label].

"I think that, in the end, the most important things are the results. In my job, I need the result. Nothing else," he added.

Sarri will once again be coming up against Man City in the final of the EFL Cup at Wembley stadium on Sunday, February 24.

The former Napoli manager will be seeking to get a perfect revenge against Pep Guardiola after Chelsea's 6-0 demolition by the Citizens at Etihad stadium.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Maurizio Sarri has declared he will not be leaving Chelsea for Roma after speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge.

The ex-Napoli boss has come under immense criticisms following his side's poor form since the beginning of the New Year.

However, the 59-year-old's side defeated Malmo 3-0 to qualify 5-1 on aggregate into the Europa League round of 16.
