Just In: President Buhari defeats Atiku in Kwankwaso’s local government

- President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly won the majority of votes in Madobi

- This is the local government of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

- Kwankwaso has been a major backer of Atiku Abubakar

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly won majority of the presidential votes that were cast in Madobi local government area in Kano state.

The local government is where former governor of Kano, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is from and he has been the biggest backer of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

According to Sahara Reporters, Sani Umar who is the collation officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation officer for the presidential election in the local government, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari had 26,110.

He also said Atiku got 13,113.

The collation officer for the National Assembly elections, Mansur Bindaw, also announced the Senate result.

In the Senate election, APC scored 22,731 while PDP got 15,913.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, February 22, dismissed an allegation by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it was hoarding some election materials.

The chief press secretary of the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the commission would never deliberately hoard election materials or engage in any act intended to favour any political party or candidate.

Oyekanmi said that in the last one week, INEC had mobilised all national assets to deliver various election materials, day and night, to various parts of the country.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
