Two Nigerian Sisters Stranded In Ghana, Trafficked Over Parents’ Inability To Pay School Fees

More information has emerged about the trafficking of two Nigerian girls who recently cried out in Ghana for help to return to their home country. SaharaReporters earlier reported that the girls alleged maltreatment by the woman who trafficked them to Ghana, hence their attempt to return to Nigeria. However, on getting to the Aflao border, they were not allowed to cross to Nigeria and had to stay back in Ghana.  According to fresh details on the matter, the trafficked sisters said their parents consented to their emigration from Nigeria because of their (parents’) inability to continue to pay their (girls’) school fees. Police Unlawfully Detain Woman, Deny Her Justice

Police officers at Iseri-Oke Police Station, Berger in Lagos have allegedly detained a woman, Edith Oteri, unlawfully for four days over a N30,800 fraud accusation. In a report sent to SaharaReporters by Clement Oluwole, Oteri was accused by a POS (Point of sale) operator of obtaining money under false pretences but Oteri stated explicitly that she has never met the operator before. Oluwole said the intervention of the police complicated the matter as Oteri slept in the cell for four days. BREAKING: It Will Take 20 Years To Address Insecurity In Nigeria— Buratai

The Immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has told the Senate that it will take Nigeria the next 20 years to address the security challenges confronting the country at the moment. Speaking on Thursday when he appeared before the Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa-led Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening as an Ambassadorial Nominee, Buratai said that it will take 20 years to address this insecurity. According to Vanguard, Buratai noted that the intelligence capacity of the army was initially low, but now in a first-class state.  Speaking further, Buratai who noted that the warfare has permeated the society, said that they have won the communities to their side, adding that it requires a multi-pronged approach with military warfare as only one aspect.
