Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd) The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, has defended his earlier comment that Nigerians should stop being cowards and fight against bandits’ attack. Magashi had while addressing newsmen on Wednesday said Nigerians should be courageous enough when bandits fire “minor” shots. Maj. Gen. In our younger days, we stand to fight any aggression coming for us… “I don’t know why people are running from minor things like that. Council Polls: Delta PDP Chairman Sacks Campaign Chairman, DG Over Inauguration Venue

Barely three days after the inauguration of the Isoko South campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State for the March 6, 2021 council polls, the campaign council chairman Ferguson Onwo, and Director General, Orezi Esievo, have been sacked. The sacking, SaharaReporters learnt, followed a disagreement over the venue for the inauguration of sub-committee members and supremacy tussle involving the council chairman, DG, and the local government chairman of the party, Godspower Obaro. EFCC Busts Another Internet Fraud Training Centre In Abuja, Arrests 27, Including Apprentices

Operatives of the Abuja zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have uncovered another training centre allegedly set up for the grooming of internet fraudsters. The ‘academy’ located in the Arab Contractors Area of Mpape Hills, a suburb of Abuja, was discovered when operatives, acting on intelligence, stormed the base on Thursday and arrested 27 internet fraud suspects. This development comes few weeks after the anti-graft agency discovered an internet fraud academy in the Bwari axis of Abuja, where 10 suspects said to be learning the trade of cyber trickery were nabbed. A statement by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the coordinator of the Mpape centre is one 30-year-old Emmanuel Clement. It added that Clement’s students are mostly young school leavers, including ladies between the ages of 18 and 25. Abdullahi Dikko Inde The immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko, will be buried tomorrow (Friday). A family member of the deceased confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday night. Abdullahi Dikko Inde “Innalilahi wahi inna ilahi. Former CG customs Inde Dikko succumbed to death. We planned the Janazah prayer at National Mosque tomorrow after Jumah prayer Insha Allahu,” he said. EFCC Continues Trial Of Saraki’s Cousin Over N220million Contract Scam

A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday continued the trial of a former Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Millennium Development Goals, Alhaji Ope Saraki, over N220 million contract fraud. The trial continued in Ilorin with the cross-examination of the second prosecution witness, Ijaya Adedeji, by the defence counsel. Saraki, a cousin of the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is being prosecuted by the EFCC Ilorin Zonal Office for allegedly procuring a contract to the tune of N220 million through a company of interest. The contract involved the purchase of 13 units of ambulances for general/specialist hospitals in Kwara State, and was allegedly acquired through Chemiroy Nigeria Limited. The offence is contrary to Section 12 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences, ICPC, Act, 2000. The Kano State Hisbah Board has said the body is investigating allegations of infidelity levelled against its officer, Sani Rimo, who was allegedly caught with a married woman in a hotel in the Sabon Gari area of the state.  SaharaReporters had on Tuesday reported how a commander of the Islamic police was arrested in a hotel. Rimo is said to be in charge of arresting beggars and prostitutes in the Kano metro area. BREAKING: Ex-Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Is Dead

A former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Abdullahi Inde Dikko, is dead. Dikko died in Abuja after a long illness. SaharaReporters learnt that he died of cancer complicated by COVID-19.  He was 61 years old and a native of Musawa, Katsina State. The former Customs boss is survived by one wife and three children –two sons and a daughter. He attended Government College, Kaduna in 1974 where he obtained the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in 1980. He had a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Dimitrov Apostle Tshenov, Svishtov, Bulgaria. Banditry: Over Ten Villages Deserted Completely In Katsina

Governor Masari of Katsina State with bandits More than ten villages in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State have been completely deserted due to the activities of bandits. According to Katsina Post, recent attacks by the gunmen on some of the communities during the week worsened the situation. Governor Masari of Katsina State with bandits Gunmen had on Monday night attacked Sayau and Tashar Bawa communities, both in Sabuwa LGA with reported killings and kidnappings. PDP Seeks Defence Minister’s Sacking For Calling Nigerians Cowards, Asking Them To Fight Bandits, Terrorists

The Peoples Democratic Party has described the statement credited to the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd), as reckless and pessimistic for calling Nigerians ‘cowards’ and asking them to defend themselves against armed bandits and terrorists.   The PDP said this in a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan. Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola Oyetunji Solomon, the manager of Total Service Station, Oworonsoki Express-way, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos State, owned by former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, is currently enmeshed in an alleged multi-million naira scam.  SaharaReporters gathered that Oyinlola, a licensee of Total Nigeria PLC has failed to take any step to investigate the alleged fraudulent and criminal behaviour of his manager.  Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola Solomon allegedly swindled a businessman, Makinde Olufemi, out of the sum of N5,000,000.
