Ovation Group Gives N5, 000 Each To 1,004 Nigerians As Palliative

The Ovation Media Group has announced 1,004 winners of its Ovation palliative which is drawn from over 10,000 applications by Nigerians. The Chairman of the Ovation Group, Chief Dele Momodu, noted that the process was designed and coordinated by an Information Technology guru, Ms. Farida Bedwei, in Accra, Ghana. He added that some of the palliatives had helped Nigerians to set up small-scale businesses in parts of the country. “This rigorous process was designed and coordinated by an IT guru, Ms Farida Bedwei, in Accra, Ghana. Each of the winners will receive N5,000. Man Allegedly Beats Wife To Death In Lagos

Detectives attached to the Lagos Police Command have arrested a man, David Idibie, for allegedly beating his wife, Juliana, 42, to death in Ajah. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. Adejobi said the incident occurred on Tuesday night at their Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla residence. The statement read, “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one David Idibie, male, of Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah area of Lagos State, for the murder of his wife, one Juliana Idibie, female, 42, of same address, on 16th February, 2021 at about 10pm. “It was gathered that the deceased had engaged the suspect in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained severe head injury. EFCC Arrests Medical Doctor, 17 Others For Alleged Internet Fraud In Imo

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, arrested a 28-year-old medical practitioner, Chijioke Precious, and 17 others over alleged internet fraud in Owerri, Imo State. The 17 others whose ages range from 21 to 34 include Anthony Joshua, Henry Mezie, Chukwuebuka Ahiwe, Michael Chinagorom, Jossy Irokwe, Ibe Chukwuebuka, Iroadinma Chibuike, Uchechukwu Divine, and Nwosu Emmanuel. Others are Kenneth Williams, Mmesoma Oparanozie, Chikezie Ogochukwu, Uchenna Ejiogu, Victor Chijioke, Chidera Cyprian, Chukwuebuka Precious, and Anyaehie Kelvin. EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, added that they were arrested following a tip-off around 1 am on Wednesday at Umuguma area of ‘World Bank’ in Owerri, Imo State. Protesters Block Gombe-Yola Highway Over Governor’s Delay In Announcing Preferred Kingship Candidate

The people of Tangale Chiefdom in the Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State have taken to the highway to protest the delay in announcing their preferred candidate to replace the late King of the Chiefdom, Abdu Buba-Maisheru II. According to reports, the people alleged that the governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, is planning to declare some person other than their preferred candidate, Musa Idris Maiyamba, who reportedly got the highest number of votes from kingmakers. Youths Ask Gombe Governor, Inuwa To Confirm Maiyamba As New Mai Tangale

Some youths in Tangale Chiefdom in the Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State have asked Governor Yahaya Inuwa to confirm Dr Musa Idris Maiyamba as the new Mai Tangale.  The youths in a letter to the governor asked him to respect the choice of the people. They alleged that there are plans to announce somebody other than Maiyamba, who according to them, got the highest votes from the kingmakers. Seventh-Day Nursing School Suspends Students For Protesting Poor Feeding In Osun

The Seventh-Day Adventist School of Nursing, Lagere, Ile Ife, Osun State, has suspended seven students of the institution indefinitely for daring to protest against poor feeding in the school. SaharaReporters learnt that the school authorities issued the suspension letter on Wednesday to the student nurses, saying it would not tolerate “truancy,” although the school did not address the problem of bad feeding which the students had complained about. A copy of the letter obtained by SaharaReporters was signed by the Principal, Alao Moses, and one Tobiloba, as the Vice Principal, Student Affairs. A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos has granted a temporary Mareva injunction directing commercial banks to block Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited accounts. The court ruled in a bid to recover the cash value of more than 16 million barrels of crude oil allegedly diverted by the oil giant from AITEO Eastern E & P Company Ltd. Justice Oluremi Omowunmi Oguntoyinbo gave the order following an ex parte application in suit no FHC/L/CS/52/202 where AITEO Eastern E & P Company Ltd is the plaintiff/applicants and SPDC Ltd is the first defendant. Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Shell Western Supply and Trading Ltd, Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd, and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd are second, third, fourth and fifth defendants. A young man simply identified as Hosea has alleged that the Divisional Police Officer of Ikoyi police station, Mustafa Tijani, is trying to get his brother, Gabriel Owolo, killed after framing him for a crime he knows nothing about. In a Twitter post on Wednesday, Hosea said his brother was arrested at Falomo police barracks on February 11 and had remained in police custody since then. BREAKING: Niger Governor Orders Indefinite Closure Of Boarding Schools Over Abduction Of GSC Staff, Students

Governor Sani Bello of Niger State has ordered the immediate closure of all the boarding schools in four local government areas of the state. SaharaReporters had reported how staff members and students of Government Science College, Kagara, headquarters of Rafi LGA were abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits on Wednesday. According to a source, the attack started from the staff quarters and ended in the students’ hostels. The incident happened barely three days after 21 passengers heading to Minna, capital of Niger State, were abducted in broad daylight by bandits affiliated with the Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad. Addressing a press conference in Minna, the state capital, Bello ordered that all boarding schools in Rafi, Munya, Mariga and Shiroro LGAs should be closed indefinitely.
