Commuters Cheat Death As Petrol Tanker Falls, Blocks Abuja Highway

A major tragedy was on Monday averted in Abuja along the Abuja-Kefffi Expressway as hundreds of commuters narrowly escaped death when a heavy duty tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit fell and blocked the entire section of the highway. Ogun Police Kill Four Suspected Smugglers, Injure One To Avert Arson Attack On Their Station

No fewer than four people have been allegedly killed by the police during a shoot-out with suspected smugglers in Igbogila community in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. One person was said to have sustained gunshot wounds.  The violence, which began on Thursday and went on till Sunday has thrown the residents of the community into a state panic as the hoodlums have threatened to retaliate the deaths of their gang members. Another group of youths in Lagos State have announced plans to organise a counter-protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday, February 13. Illustration   The private sector-led Coalition Against COVID-19 has disowned the move by the BUA Group to purchase one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for Nigeria. In a statement issued earlier on Monday, the BUA group had announced that it would purchase one million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, through the AfreximBank vaccine programme in partnership with private sector CACOVID.
