Seven Killed In Reprisal On Zamfara Villages

No fewer than seven persons were killed during a reprisal on Nono and Gura Namaye communities in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State by bandits. Several persons were also said to have sustained injuries in the attack and are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals in the state. SaharaReporters gathered that the reprisal followed the killing of two Fulani herdsmen by local vigilante group, popularly known as Yansakai in Maradun.  Following their killing, scores of bandits were said to have launched an attack on the two communities, killing seven persons and injuring others. Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle had asked the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, to summon the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari, and the Sarkin Arewan Maradun, Alhaji Bala, to explain how the two Fulani herdsmen were slaughtered. El-Zakzaky, Wife Absent In Court As Nigerian Government Resumes Trial

Zakzaky and wife Zeenat The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat are absent in court as their trial by the Kaduna State government resumed on Monday at the state High Court. Yoruba freedom fighter and activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has hailed Yoruba leaders for backing his fight against insurgency in the region. Military Jets Killed Several Bandits In Kaduna —Commissioner

Troops under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike on Saturday conducted a joint ground and air patrols to Chikwale village, along the Polewire-Mangoro-Sarkin Pawa Road in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State as military jets killed several bandits during the operation. Vanguard According to a statement by the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, on Sunday, the air component conducted armed reconnaissance into forests in the area, and scores of the bandits were sighted on motorcycles around Gidan Sule.  He said, “The bandits scampered for cover as they were engaged by the fighter jet crew. The fighter jets conducted further missions in quick succession, as the bandits were tracked accordingly.
