Hisbah Officials Arrest 178 Street Beggars In Kano

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 178 suspects in Kano metropolis for violating the law against street begging from September to November 2020. The Commander-General of the board, Mr Harun Ibn-Sina, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Monday. “The suspects were arrested along Alu Avenue, Dan’agundi, Taludu, Race Course, Sharada, Kofar Mazugal in the city. He said, “Among those arrested, 102 were females, while 76 were males.  “The board will continue to arrest beggars who refuse to abide by the law. “Street begging has been reduced in the state since the board began its operations against offenders.” He said the board would make sure that the state is free from street begging in the nearest future. He added that those arrested had been screened, saying that first-time offenders would be handed over to their relatives. Car Wash Attendant Beats 18-Year-Old Lover To Death In Bayelsa

A 27-year-old man, Promise Sunday, has allegedly beaten to death his 18-year-old lover, Esther Pascal, during a quarrel in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.   SaharaReporters gathered that the deceased, Pascal, who had a two-year-old daughter, was beaten to death at about 12 am by the suspect, who worked as an attendant in a car wash outlet. It was learnt that the fight between the two lovers was caused by a disagreement  on  feeding and welfare for the family. Some residents in the area said quarrels between both lovers were a common occurrence, but they were shocked when they were woken up at about midnight on Sunday as Pascal screamed for help. “By the time a few of us got to their door, it was locked from inside. But we forced it open and met the deceased on the floor. We quickly tried to revive her with water, thinking she fainted. But we discovered that she was dead.
