Nicholas Mbah, a protester, who was arrested in Lagos and charged to court for arson, stealing and armed robbery, has been allowed to speak with his family after intense pressure from Nigerians. Mbah, who is being detained at the Kirikiri Medium Correctional Centre, has developed serious health complications after torture by the police after he was arraigned on trumped-up charges. Speaking after a visit to Mbah, his lawyer, Ayo Ademiluyi, said the officials of the correctional centre allowed Mbah to speak with his family on official phone after citing COVID-19 restrictions as a reason for not allowing them in. Federal Court Orders Remand Of Senator Ndume Over Disappearance Of Maina

Senator Ali Ndume Senator Ali Ndume has been ordered to be remanded in custody by the Federal High Court in Abuja for failing to ex-Chairman of the now scrapped Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, for trial in a N2bn money laundering case. Ndume, who stood surety for Maina, who is on the run, would remain in custody until he produces the defendant or disposes the N500m worth of property located in Asokoro, Abuja, used as bail bond, according to the court order by Justice Okon Abang. Nigerian Army Spokesperson Reshares Article Calling Lekki Protesters Lawless, Bunch Of Cowards

Army spokesperson, Sagir Musa. Col Sagir Musa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, on Sunday posted an article labelling the Lekki Toll Gate protesters in Lagos State as “lawless, recalcitrant and a bunch of cowards.” The army spokesperson, who shared the article on some Whatsapp platforms he belonged to, justified the deployment and use of live ammunition on the evening of October 20 against the Lekki Toll Gate protesters, who had been at the demonstration for more than a week without any violence. FIFA Suspends CAF President For Five Years Over Corruption

President of the Confederation of African Football, Ahmad Ahmad, has been suspended by global football governing body, FIFA, for five years for financial misconduct. According to a statement on Monday, FIFA ethics committee found that, “Ahmad had breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as CAF President.” Ahmad, from Madagascar, has been President of African football since March 2017 and was standing for re-election when the ban was announced. His first four-year term was clouded with allegations of financial wrongdoing and misconduct at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo. Lagos Task Force Team Leader, Members Arrested Over N100,000 Bribe

Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (task force) on Sunday said it has arrested one DSP Popoola Kayode, leader of the agency operating around Lekki-Ajah Expressway for collecting N100,000 bribe from a female traffic offender in the state. Spokesperson for the agency, Adebayo Taofiq, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. According to Taofiq, the bribe was paid by one Didi Ekanem, owner of a Toyota Venza with registration number: APP 775 GJ, who was caught driving against traffic (one-way) around Lekki Ajah Expressway. The statement reads, “The leader of the team, DSP Popoola Kayode, who is not the commander of the agency as quoted inside the report, collected the sum of N100,000 via bank transfer to his account before he released the vehicle to the owner, one Didi Ekanem. “The leader of the team and members of his team have been arrested and queried by the chairman, and they would be sent back to the Lagos Police Command for further disciplinary
