2020 UTME: Policeman Arrested For Impersonation

A policeman, Etim Israel, has been arrested for impersonation at the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Israel, a constable with Akwa Ibom State Command, was arrested for paying someone to take the UTME examination on his behalf. The policeman, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, registered for the exam with his name but had his impersonator did the biometric identification and face capturing. Admitting to the act, Israel confessed to have paid N30,000 to engage the services of the mercenary (a teacher), one Emmanuel, said to be on the run, to sit for the examination as he was away on special duties, PUNCH reports. After scoring over 240 in the exam, he was said to have decided to commence the admission process but couldn’t sail through because of the disparity in the photograph. COVID-19: Donald Trump Taken To US Military Hospital

United States President, Donald Trump, has been taken to Walter Reed Army Medical Centre on the advice of his doctors as a precautionary measure after testing positive for COVID-19. Trump, 74, had confirmed in a post on Twitter on Friday morning that he and his wife, Melania, 50, will self-isolate for two weeks after testing positive for Coronavirus. They were tested after one of his aides contracted the virus. Trump is “fatigued but in good spirits”, White House physician, Dr Sean Conley, said in an earlier statement on Friday, adding that the US President was receiving a cocktail of experimental antibody drugs as a “precautionary measure”. IGP Deploys DIG, AIG, Eleven CPs For Ondo Governorship Election

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu Ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, Adeleye Oyabade, to oversee general security arrangements for the election in the state. This was made known in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, on Friday. Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu. Also deployed to assist the DIG are AIG Karma Hosea Hassan, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Federal Operations, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and 11 Commissioners of Police. Chevron Nigeria To Sack 25 Per Cent Of Workforce

Chevron Nigeria Limited has concluded plans to sack 25 per cent of its workforce in Nigeria. CNL said the slash was due to review of its manpower requirement going by the changing business environment. The oil major in a statement on Friday by its General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Esimaje Brikinn, said it would continue to evaluate opportunities to improve capital efficiency and reduce operating costs. Election: We Won’t Post Corps Members To Troubled Coastal Areas In Ondo, Says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that it would not post any member of the National Youth Service Corps to coastal areas in Ondo State as ad-hoc staff during the governorship election on October 10. There had been fears that members of the NYSC being used as ad-hoc staff in coastal areas of the state always fell victim of violence and attack.  Mrs Dolapo Alo, INEC officer in charge of civil society organisation in the state, said this on Friday while featuring on a radio programme aired on Crest 87.7 FM Akure.  She said, “We are not going to deploy corps members to that region but would use the indigenes of that particular environment for the election in the riverine areas.  “We have doubled the canons that would take the ad-hoc staff to the riverine areas of the state in order to overcome the issue of delay in the arrival of election materials.  “We have concluded the training for all ad-hoc staff that would be deployed for the election.” Alo als
