CAMA Law Will Help Nigerian Government Tackle Corruption —Buhari

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari. President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the recently passed Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 in Nigeria will enhance transparency and corporate accountability in the fight against corruption. Jigawa Governor’s Aide Arrested Over Multi-million Naira Fraud, Impersonation

Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.   Zakari Alhaji Sidi, an aide to Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State, has been arrested over alleged fraud. SaharaReporters gathered that Sidi was arrested at Dutse branch of Access Bank. Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. He was said to have made an attempt to run away from policemen when he noticed he was being trailed. A source said the governor’s aide was arrested for fraudulent activities involving the collection of millions of naira from people, false pretence, criminal breach of trust and cheating.  He was also accused of impersonating a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Nuruddeen Muhammad, who is an indigene of the state. Sources at the Jigawa State Police Command disclosed that Sidi was being detained in readiness to be flown to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in Abuja for further investigation. Principal Sources of Law English law The received English law was introduced into the colony of Lagos by Ordinance No. 3 of 1863. There are various provisions contained in the enactments creating the courts empowering the courts to administer the received English Law. The received English law as a source of Nigerian Law consist of the common Law, doctrines of Equity and Status of general application. Common Law: The term “common law” is used in several senses but as a principal source of Nigerian Law, it means the law developed by the Old Common Law Courts of England, namely, the King’s Bench, The Court of Common pleas and the Court of Exchequer. Historically, there were several systems of Local Customs in England. But under the guise of enforcing the customs of the people, the Common law judges developed a system of law known as the common Law of England. Characteristics of Common Law 1) Common Law is not a written law since it is not made by the parliament. 2) Common law is a
