Judge Handling Suit Seeking To Disqualify Ize-Iyamu Very Close To Rivers Governor, Wike, APC Alleges

The All Progressives Congress has asked the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, to transfer two suits filed against the candidacy of Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State from Justice Taiwo Taiwo. Two chieftains of the APC, Hon Momoh Abdul-Razak and Hon Zibiri Muhizu, had dragged the APC’s candidate and deputy in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State to court over alleged perjury. In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CS/758/2020, APC, Independent National Electoral Commission, Audu Ganiyu and Ize-Iyamu are the first, second, third and fourth defendants respectively. The plaintiffs asked the court to disqualify the deputy governorship candidate, Ganiyu, from participating in the forthcoming election on account of giving false information to INEC in aid of his qualification for the governorship poll slated for next month. A magistrate court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, and presided over by Chief Magistrate Rita Marshall on Tuesday discharged and acquitted two journalists for alleged misconduct in the RevolutionNow protest of August 5, 2019. Three charges bordering on conspiracy to unlawfully assemble, unlawful assembly and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace were preferred against Jonathan Ugbal and Jeremiah Archibong, who serve as News Editor and Managing Editor of CrossRiverWatch, an online news platform following their arrest. The duo were arraigned on August 7, 2019 and after a lengthy trial with dramatic sequences, the defense counsel, Kehole Enya, filed a no case to answer application adopted on July 15, 2020, which the court upheld on Tuesday. Magistrate Marshall held that the prosecution had “woefully and helplessly” failed to establish a prima facie case against the defendants to warrant them to enter a defense and subsequently discharged and acquitted the duo.

John Momoh Appointed As UNILAG Acting Governing Council Chairman

Founder of Channels Television, Mr. John Momoh, has been appointed as Acting Chairman of UNILAG Governing Council. This was contained in a letter dated August 21, 2020 with reference number FME/PS/606/C.1/III/129 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono. Momoh has been tasked to convene an emergency council meeting to approve the nomination of the Acting Vice-Chancellor for the university, Prof Folasade Ogunsola. Stop Sending Your Children To Schools In Northern Cyprus, They Are Killing Blacks, Nigerian Government Warns Parents

The Nigerian Government has warned parents against sending their children to universities in Northern Cyprus over the incessant and mysterious killing of blacks. Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, gave the warning on Monday when she received in her office a delegation led by Justice Amina Bello, mother of a Nigerian student, Ibrahim Khaleel, who was allegedly killed in inexplicable circumstances in that country. Christian Nominated For Chairmanship Of National Population Commission Finally Replaced With Muslim

Silas Ali Agara Ali Silas Agara, a Christian nominated to take over as Chairman of National Population Commission, has been finally replaced with a Muslim, Hon Kwarra Nasiru Isa.
