I’m New APC Chairman, Giadom Says In Letter To INEC

Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Victor Giadom, has written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, introducing himself as the Acting National Chairman of the party. In the letter dated June 18, 2020 personally signed with reference number APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/020/014, Giadom hinged his introduction on the order of Justice Senchi Bature, which directed him to act in the capacity of the National Chairman. Again, PDP Shifts Edo Governorship Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party has again postponed its governorship primary election in Edo State. The primary election, which was earlier slated for June 19 and 20, was on Thursday postponed to June 23. Police Extort N50,000 To Grant Bail To Witness In Land Forcefully Taken Over By Ex-Senate President Of Nigeria, Pius Anyim, Through Thugs In Ebonyi

Friday Ovia, a key witness that saw Mr Chindeu Nicholas Makwe, a Director with the National Health Insurance Scheme, physically assault one Mrs Orji at her husband’s farm in Ovumnte, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, has been released. Ovia was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer of Ivo Police Station, Nwornu Daniel C, on Tuesday on a trumped up charge.  His arrest was made in a very strange and controversial circumstances after an incriminating item was planted in his compound.  After his arrest, the DPO, without investigating the case, immediately transferred Ovia’s case file to the Ebonyi State Criminal Investigative Department, Abakaliki, where he was subjected to different forms of physical torture and abuse in order to change his statement against Makwe. CUPP Condemns Nigerian Government Over Arrest Of Spokesperson, Demands Immediate Release

The Coalition of United Political Parties has berated the Nigerian Government over the arrest of its spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, on Thursday.  Addressing journalists on Friday, head of CUPP Contact and Mobilisation and National Chairman of Action Alliance Party, Kenneth Udeze, demanded that Ugochinyere be released immediately and unconditionally. He said, "The Nigeria Police must learn to obey the direct order of the court. That is how democracy is practiced. Rule of law and constitutional democracy demand that the court must be obeyed by every person or authority which is before it." The CUPP alleged that Ugochinyere's arrest was instigated by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, over a matter that is in court and for which the court had directly and in clear terms restrained the police from arresting or detaining him in any manner.  He was arrested at the INEC headquarters while attending a meeting in preparation for his party
