How Nigeria, Africa Will Benefit From Okonjo-Iweala’s Appointment As WTO DG— Ex-CBN Director

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala A former Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Akpan Ekpo, has said Nigeria and Africa have a lot to benefit from the appointment of its former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation. The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Tuesday pledged to help rebuild the Shasha Market, Ibadan, which was burnt down during the crisis that engulfed the market last week. A delegation of the NGF led by the governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, which visited Ibadan, delivered the promise after a tour of the troubled spot. 10-Year-Old Armed Robber Arrested By Security Operatives In Edo

A 10-year-old boy, Monday Omoruye, who lives at Ring Road in Edo State has been arrested by security operatives for his involvement in crime activities. In a video that has now gone viral, Omoruye confessed that he was introduced to robbery by his brother and that he had carried out four robbery operations so far.  When asked where he got his weapons from, he said during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, he alongside his brother and some of their friends broke into Oba market police station and stole arms from the station. Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has told the Nigerian government that his generation may be the last set of people who are going to carry placards to solve the problems of the country. He warned that if the government failed to address the myriads of problems confronting the country, the younger generation of Nigerians might not subscribe to carrying placards and protesting on the streets but rather choose any means of achieving their aims. The activist made the call on Tuesday at a symposium titled, “Omoyele Sowore and The Struggle For Social Justice In Nigeria,” organised by his supporters to mark his 50th birthday in Abuja. UPDATED: Two Feared Killed, Many Missing As Bandits Attack Niger Secondary School

Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits on Wednesday invaded Government Science Secondary School in Kagara, headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, killing two students and abducting many others. The armed men were said to have invaded the school around 3 am. SaharaReporters gathered that some teachers and their family members residing within the College Staff Quarters were also abducted. “At about 3 am last night, bandits attacked Government Science College in Kagara, killing one and abducting an unknown number of students. “Some staff members, their spouses, children were also abducted by the bandits,” a source told SaharaReporters. The attackers were reportedly dressed in the uniform of the school in what looked like a premeditated attack. One of the dead students was identified as Benjamin Doma.
