I Won’t Allow Ethnic, Religious Violence Among Nigerians —Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari has promised that his administration will not allow any ethnic or religious group to stoke up hatred and violence against other groups. According to the President on his Twitter page, the Nigerian government is committed to ensuring the security of all Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation or ethnicity. The tweet came after ethnic violence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, following the alleged killing of a Yoruba man by a Hausa resident. Shasa Market Crisis: 20 Buried In Ibadan, Thousands Flee Over Fear Of Reprisal

Seyi Makinde At least 11 people were buried on Sunday in the aftermath of Friday’s altercation between Hausa traders and Yoruba at Shasa Market in Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State. Also, up to 5,000 Hausa traders, women and children displaced by the violence were still taking refuge at the residence of the Sarkin Shasa, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), in Ibadan. Drug Trafficking: Nigerian Trader Mike Nwankwo Jailed For Life In Tanzania

File photo used to illustrate story The High Court of Tanzania has sentenced Mike Nwankwo, a clothing retailer in Abuja, Nigeria, to life in prison after finding him guilty of drug trafficking, TheCitizen reports. However, Judge Mohamed Gwae, who heard the case, acquitted the first accused, Ms Mastura Makongoro, Nwankwo’s girlfriend, due to lack of evidence against her.
