We Have Been Abandoned, NYSC Members In COVID-19 Isolation Centre Raise Alarm

Some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Jigawa State who allegedly tested positive for COVID-19 have allegedly been abandoned at the state’s isolation centre. According to the corps members who are currently under quarantine at Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, they have been in the isolation centre for 14 days, even though they showed no symptoms. “We were to return to camp on the 15th of this month but they conducted COVID-19 test and said we were positive. “We have been in the isolation centre for 14 days now without showing any symptoms. The pain of celebrating Christmas here can’t be described; they said Jigawa State doesn’t adopt the method of releasing COVID-19 patient after 14 days without symptoms,” one of them said. The Jigawa State government had on December 15, 2020 announced it discovered eight new cases of COVID-19 among members of the NYSC posted to the state. The war of words between a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, and a Senior Pastor of the Citadel Global Community, Lagos State, Tunde Bakare, does not seem like it will end soon as the ex-minister has asked the cleric to respond to the questions he had raised earlier about his (Bakare’s) alleged ugly past. SIM Registration: NIMC Issues New Guidelines For National Identification Number Applicants

The National Identity Management Commission has issued fresh guidelines for applicants to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN). Kayode Adegoke, the spokesman for the commission, in a statement on Tuesday titled, ‘NIMC Adopts Booking System For NIN Enrolment,’ urged all applicants to use face masks, maintain social distancing and wash their hands while at its centres across the country. Family Seeks Release Of Son’s Corpse Killed In Police Custody, Demands N50m Compensation,

The family of Godstime Akugbo who was allegedly killed while in the custody of the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Rivers State police in 2007 have asked the Judicial Commission of Inquiry sitting in the state to make the police produce the remains of the deceased. According to the family, they need to give the late Akugbo a befitting burial.  The family also demanded N50 million as compensation for the alleged killing of Akugbo. Michael Akugbo, elder brother of the deceased, who petitioned the panel, said the late Akugbo died in detention a few days after he was arrested by the police in October 207 on spurious claims that he was in possession of marijuana. “We want the panel to help compel the Nigeria Police to release my brother’s corpse to us. We also want the perpetrators of the heinous crime against my brother to be brought to justice. Also, we want the Nigeria Police to pay us compensation of N50 million,” he said.
