Again, Police Attack #FreeZakzaky Protesters In Abuja

Determined to silence their agitation, police officers in Abuja have again launched a violent attack on members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria popularly known as Shiites, during a protest to demand the freedom of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife, Zeenat. The police attacked the peaceful and unarmed protesters using teargas and water cannons to suppress their demands for the freedom of El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention since December 2015. Secretary of the Academic Forum of the movement, Abdullahi Musa, confirmed the attack while speaking with SaharaReporters. Italy Makes Wearing Of Nose Cover In Public Compulsory After Surge In COVID-19 Cases

Italy has made it compulsory to wear nose masks in public as part of measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus. The new directive adds that all Italians must also wear nose cover in their houses. FT Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy, said the measure is aimed at averting an imminent lockdown that would occur and devastate the economy if precaution was not taken. BREAKING: Ondo Election Won’t Be Free And Fair, PDP Says

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party National Campaign Council for Info State Governorship election, has rejected Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede as the Independent National Electoral Commission Chief Returning Officer for the exercise. According to Makinde during a press conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday, the October 10 poll won’t be free and fair if the electoral commission as presently composed will oversee the exercise.  INEC is, however, yet to disclose the name of the collation officer for Saturday’s governorship election in the state. Gunmen Kidnap One Person In Abuja

Some gunmen have reportedly abducted one person in Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. The abduction took place on Wednesday night at about 8:30pm. The kidnappers fired several gunshots at a Volkswagen car, leaving the occupants with varying degree of injuries. Chairman of Pegi Community Development Association, Mr Taiwo Aderibigbe, confirmed the incident to journalists. The incident has sent panic across the area with resident now afraid to move around the area freely. Public Relations Officer of FCT Police Command, Manzal Anjuguri, was not available for comment when contacted. Recall that some gunmen had in June kidnapped three persons in the same community while they were returning from work around 10:00pm.
