APC Begins Screening Of Ondo Governorship Candidates Ahead Of Primary Election

Ahead of its governorship primary election on July 20, the All Progressives Congress has begun the screening of aspirants jostling for the party's ticket.  Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State confirmed this on Wednesday on his Twitter page shortly after he was screened in Abuja.  He said, “I have just undergone screening by my party @OfficialAPCNg. Police Arrest Nasarawa APC Chairman For Raping Two Girls

The police have arrested the All Progressive Congress ward chairman in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Christopher Ogah, for allegedly defiling two girls in his house in Obi town. Alhaji Mohammad Oyimoga Oyigye, Chairman of the Local Government Area, said he saved Ogah from being lynched by angry youth, who caught him and immediately handed him over to the police. A witness said the APC chairman lured the girls when they entered his house to fetch water, adding that it was not his first time of committing such crime.  He said the two girls were 12 and 13-respectively. Group Asks National Assembly To Suspend Annual Recess Over Electoral Reform Bill

A non-governmental organisation, Center for Advancement of Civil Liberties and Development, has called on the Nigerian Senate to halt its plan to go on annual recess until the passage of the Electoral Reform Bill. Ibrahim Magu Operatives of the Department of State Services and Nigeria Police Force are currently searching the house of Ibrahim Magu, suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Panic At National Assembly As Over 50 Lawmakers Allegedly Test Positive For COVID-19

The House of Representatives on Tuesday adjourned plenary until next week following news that over 50 legislators may have been tested positive for Coronavirus A lawmaker told journalists that about 50 of his colleagues had been tested positive for the virus with some of them seriously ill.  Findings also revealed that many of the lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly have tested positive for COVID-19 but refused making it known to the public. It cannot be ascertained if the recess will stretch to its usual two months due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ondo Governor, Akeredolu, Asks Security Agents To Probe Former SSG's Comments Of Manipulating 2016 Governorship Election In His Favour

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has called on security agencies to investigate the former Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, over the allegations that the 2016 governorship election in Ondo State was manipulated in his favour. Abegunde had on Monday during a radio programme on Crest 87.7 FM in Akure alleged that Governor Akeredolu didn't win the 2016 poll but the results were manipulated in his favour. Akeredolu in a statement on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, said the allegations of the former Ondo SSG showed a semblance of sustained recycling of falsehood and blackmail targeted towards him and his immediate family.  He also described the allegations as "pernicious lies" that must be investigated thoroughly. Governor Akeredolu Appoints Kinsman Of Former Ondo SSG To Fill Position

Following the resignation of Mr Ifedayo Abegunde as Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has appointed a new person to fill the position.  The new SSG is Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who is also from the same town with Abegunde.  Both men are indigenes of Akure, the state capital.  Oluwatuyi was the state's Commissioner for Natural Resources until he was appointed SSG.  Governor Akeredolu announced Oluwatuyi's appointment during a briefing at the Government House in Akure on Monday.  He said, “Today, I announced the appointment of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the Secretary to the State Government to resume immediately following the resignation of Hon. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has asked Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, to launch a probe into allegations that N300bn of public funds are missing as documented in the 2017 audited report by the Auditor-General of the Federation. Bandits Kill 18 Persons, Kidnap APC Chairman In Katsina State

File Photo: Gunmen No fewer than 18 persons were killed while the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, Yusha’u Dissi, was abducted when armed bandits attacked some villages in the region. We Rigged 2016 Governorship Election For Akeredolu, Ex-Ondo SSG Says After Resigning

Despite being in self-isolation after contracting Coronavirus, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has said that he won't hand over the governance of the state to his deputy, Mr Agboola Ajayi. NSITF Management Rejects Suspension By Minister Of Labour, Ngige

The management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has disputed allegations that it had been sacked and replaced by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.
