Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo Phones President Buhari, Apologises Over Embassy Demolition —Presidency

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo and President Buhari The Nigerian Government has said that Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, had spoken with President Muhammadu Buhari to apologise for the demolition of a building in the Nigerian High Commission in Accra. On Monday Geoffrey Onyeama, Foreign Affairs Minister, had summoned Iva Denoo, the Ghanian Chargé d' Affaires in Nigeria to explain how yet to be identified person demolished a Nigerian diplomatic building in Ghana last Friday. Court Bars PDP From Excluding Obaseki In Edo Primaries

A Federal High Court in Ekpoma, Edo State, has stopped the Peoples Democratic Party from excluding Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo, from participating in its gubernatorial primary election. After a suit filed by Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a PDP aspirant, a Federal High Court in Rivers State had restrained Obaseki from contesting Thurdays's primary on the grounds that he did not purchase the form within the stipulated time on the party's time table.  However, in another suit brought before the high court in Edo, one Felix Irioh asked that Obaseki be allowed to contest the primary on the grounds that the PDP granted him a waiver, The Cable reports. Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Victor Giadom, has written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, introducing himself as the Acting National Chairman of the party. In the letter dated June 18, 2020 personally signed with reference number APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/020/014, Giadom hinged his introduction on the order of Justice Senchi Bature, which directed him to act in the capacity of the National Chairman. Again, PDP Shifts Edo Governorship Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party has again postponed its governorship primary election in Edo State. The primary election, which was earlier slated for June 19 and 20, was on Thursday postponed to June 23. Police Extort N50,000 To Grant Bail To Witness In Land Forcefully Taken Over By Ex-Senate President Of Nigeria, Pius Anyim, Through Thugs In Ebonyi

Friday Ovia, a key witness that saw Mr Chindeu Nicholas Makwe, a Director with the National Health Insurance Scheme, physically assault one Mrs Orji at her husband’s farm in Ovumnte, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, has been released. Ovia was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer of Ivo Police Station, Nwornu Daniel C, on Tuesday on a trumped up charge.  His arrest was made in a very strange and controversial circumstances after an incriminating item was planted in his compound.  After his arrest, the DPO, without investigating the case, immediately transferred Ovia’s case file to the Ebonyi State Criminal Investigative Department, Abakaliki, where he was subjected to different forms of physical torture and abuse in order to change his statement against Makwe. CUPP Condemns Nigerian Government Over Arrest Of Spokesperson, Demands Immediate Release

The Coalition of United Political Parties has berated the Nigerian Government over the arrest of its spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, on Thursday.  Addressing journalists on Friday, head of CUPP Contact and Mobilisation and National Chairman of Action Alliance Party, Kenneth Udeze, demanded that Ugochinyere be released immediately and unconditionally. He said, "The Nigeria Police must learn to obey the direct order of the court. That is how democracy is practiced. Rule of law and constitutional democracy demand that the court must be obeyed by every person or authority which is before it." The CUPP alleged that Ugochinyere's arrest was instigated by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, over a matter that is in court and for which the court had directly and in clear terms restrained the police from arresting or detaining him in any manner.  He was arrested at the INEC headquarters while attending a meeting in preparation for his party

APC Denies Leadership Vacuum, Picks Holes In Giadom's Court Order

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress has declared that the party has no leadership vacuum despite the alleged ex parte order granted in favour of Victor Giadom, its Deputy National Secretary. The party disclosed this on Friday in Abuja in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary,  Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu. The party maintained that there was no leadership vacuum in the fold as being speculated in certain quarters. PDP Condemns Arrest Of CUPP Spokesperson, Ugochinyere, Demands Immediate Release From Police Custody

The Peoples Democratic Party has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, by the police allegedly on the orders of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila. The party decried the arrest of the CUPP spokesperson in defiance of a subsisting court order barring such as a direct affront to the judiciary, an assault on Nigeria's democratic practice and a violation of Ugochinyere’s rights as guaranteed by the 1999 constitution  (as amended). Declared Wanted by DSS: Ikenga Ugochinyere A civil society group, Concerned Nigerians, has described the arrest and detention of spokespeeaon for the Coalition of United Political Parties, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, as unconstitutional and a violation of the Nigerian constitution. In a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the group said Ugochinyere's arrest was carried out in direct disrespect and disregard for court orders. Justice M. G. Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State, has again adjourned the money laundering case instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, All Progressives Congress aspirant for the 2020 Edo State governorship election. Ize-Iyamu is being prosecuted by the EFCC alongside Lucky Imasuen, former deputy governor of Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih, PDP Chairman in Edo State; Tony Aziegbemi and Efe Erimuoghae. A former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has slipped into coma as a result of Coronavirus complications. Ajimobi has been in Intensive Care Unit at First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi , Lagos, since he was rushed to the place few weeks ago after it emerged he had the virus. The former governor first slipped into coma on June 8 but was revived and stabilised by doctors until Thursday when he again went totally unconscious. BREAKING: APC Names Former Oyo Governor, Ajimobi, As Acting National Chairman After Court Upheld Oshiomhole's Suspension

The All Progressives Congress has named former Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as its acting National Chairman. APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said it had received the news indicating that the Appeal Court had upheld the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by an FCT High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit.
