Court approves suit seeking to sack rep member over alleged certificate scam

- A member of the House of Representatives, Chukwuegbo Gregory, has been dragged to Abuja high court sitting at Apo over a certificate scandal

- All Progressives Congress and Nelson Arum, lodged the complaint against Gregory that he does not possess the first school leaving certificate

- Justice Valentine Ashi, however, approved the expeditious hearing of the suit lodged against the lawmaker

Abuja high court sitting at Apo, on Wednesday, January 23, approved a suit seeking to sack a member of the House of Representatives, Chukwuegbo Gregory, over an allegation leveled against him.

All Progressives Congress and Nelson Arum, lodged the complaint against the lawmaker that he does not have the first school leaving certificate, Vanguard reports.

The plaintiffs told the court that the defendant was bereft of the requisite constitutional qualifications to contest and win election into the House of Representatives.

Justice Valentine Ashi, however, approved, expeditious hearing of the suit lodged against the lawmaker as he directed the service of hearing notice on the defendant to enable him to appear in court on January 29.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a Federal Capital Territory high court sitting in Apo area of Abuja nullified the expulsion of the senator representing Ogun East senatorial district, Buruji Kashamu, by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The court in its ruling also set aside the expulsion of Ogun state chairman of the party, Adebayo Dayo.

Justice Valentine Ashi said the expulsion of the two party faithfuls was done in flagrant disobedience of a subsisting order the court made on December 7, 2017, and further restated on January 9, 2018.

The court also warned the PDP not to carry out any disciplinary action against the defendants without recourse to the pending proceeding before it.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
