Issak Hayik, Israeli-based goalkeeper, emerges world’s oldest professional footballer at 73 after staying between the sticks for Ironi Or Yehuda against Maccabi Ramat Gan in the Israeli fourth division.
The encounter on Friday, April 5, saw Hayik, who will be 74 in a few weeks’ time, go through tough demands of football that see players quit before the age of 35.
However, Hayik was in action all 90 minutes, but could not save his side from suffering a 5-1 bashing.

Givemefootball.com citing BBC, claim Hayik performed excellently during the contest, stressing it was surprising to see a 73-year-old play for all 90 minutes.
Interestingly, at 73, Hayik performer better on the pitch compared to 53-year-old Uruguayan, Robert Carmona, who was the previous record holder.
"This is not only a source of pride for me but also to Israeli sports in general," Hayik was quoted as saying to Reuters news agency, per the BBC.
Surprisingly, moments after the match ended, Hayik cried out suddenly that he was 'ready for another game'.
But the shot-stopper had already done enough to enter the Guinness World Records and presented with a prize at a ceremony after the game.
Recently, Colin Lee, also emerged as England's oldest goalkeeper at 79 and declared he is not in a hurry to retire.has no plans to stop playing.
“I’ve been told you have to be mad to be a goalie, so I guess I must be bordering on that as I’ve done it for so long," Lee told Yahoo.
“I love chucking myself around the goal like a lunatic.
“I’ve got arthritis in my hands and my joints and knees are stiffer than they used to be but I still love it when I make a good save.

“I’ve had lots of bruises but amazingly I’ve never had any serious football injuries in more than 70 years.
“I turn 80 in June and I’ve got no plans to stop playing. I will play for as long as my body lets me and of course, if I’m still picked for the team,” he summed up.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Colin Lee is a living proof that age is nothing but just a number as the 79-year-old goalkeeper is not ready to hang his gloves yet.
He started his career playing for six different teams since 1946 and Lee says he wants to keep playing till his 80's.
Lee started his 73-year career as a central defender before ending as a shot-stopper and now has the title of 'Britain's oldest goalkeeper' after six decades wearing the gloves.
