Interpol visits EFCC, commends commission for ridding Nigeria of corruption (photos)

The secretary general of International Police (INTERPOL), Jurgen Stock, was recently at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)'s office for a courtsey visit.

During the visit, Stock commended the zeal and efforts of the anti-graft agency in cleaning Nigeria of all forms of economic and financial crimes.

The Interpol chief also emphasised the need for partnership between international police and the commission.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng early reported that EFCC detained Babagana Abba Dalori for allegedly collecting N7 billion from 20,700 investors.

Baba Abba Dalori, a 35 year old, is a 2010 graduate of Electrical/Electronics of University of Maiduguri and is the managing director of Galaxy Transportation and Construction Services Limited.

The businessman promised his investors a high return of 135% and in some other cases, he said they could earn as much 200% on their investment.

The suspected businessman said he began his business in 2012 with just a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) and by 2014, the business grew with many showing interest, thereby the need to diversify.

Legit.ng also reported that the anti-graft agency revealed why it re-arrested a former Federal High Court judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, after she was discharged by the court on Tuesday, April 16.

It was gathered that the commission said it acted in line with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria by the judge's re-arrest.

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia was re-arrested at the premises of an Ikeja High Court after she was discharged of corruption charges by Justice Hakeem Oshodi. Oshodi, in his ruling, struck out the 31-count charge filed by the EFCC against Ofili-Ajumogobia and a lawyer, Godwin Obla, on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
