Chelsea star in big trouble as club supporters want manager to offload him

- Gonzalo Higuain fired blank in Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool at Anfield over the weekend

- His performance got the Blues supporters angry and have told the manager to stop playing the Argentine

- The 31-year-old joined his Premier League outfit in January and has only registered three goals in 13 matches since then

Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain failed to register a goal in his side's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in Sunday's Premier League clash.

The Argentine, who joined the Blues during the January transfer window on loan, has only scored three goals after ten EPL matches.

However, his failure to find the back of the net in their last outing at the Merseyside outfit angered the club's fans, and have called the manager Maurizio Sarri to stop giving him playing time.

The 31-year-old was signed on a short term deal from Juventus this winter owing to his success under Sarri at Napoli - scoring 36 goals in 35 league games in the 2015/16 campaign.

But has failed to replicate the feat at the Stamford Bridge since his switch three months ago, as some believes he should not be starting ahead of Olivier Giroud.

Higuain came on for Callum Hudson-Odoi in the second half of the fixture but was unable to make meaningful impact for the rest of the game.

One wrote on Twitter: "Can Sarri stop playing Higuain and make [Olivier] Giroud a regular?"

Another seething supporter added: "Even if we have a ban, not sure I can stomach another season of Gonzalo Higuain."

While one said: "Higuain just f*** off back to Italy please. You've done nothing for my club."

Higuain could redeem his image before the club supporters when Chelsea battle Slavia Praha in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League quarterfinal clash this week.

Meanwhile, the Blues risk not qualifying for Champions League next season should the Premier League season ends this way in May.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Gonzalo Higuain has revealed he intends to remain at Chelsea in the coming season.

The Chelsea striker joined the Blues on loan in January from his parent club Juventus, until the end of the season.

Maurizio Sarri has insisted that the 31-year-old needs time to improve his game after scoring three goals in eight Premier League games.
