APC’s Adelabu challenges Makinde’s victory at tribunal

Adebayo Adelabu, the governorship candidate of the APC in Oyo state, has filed a petition at the tribunal to challenge the victory of Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 9 election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Makinde winner of the governorship election after polling 515,621 votes to defeat Adelabu who had 357,982.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other respondents in the case are the PDP and the commission.

It was learnt that the secretariat of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Ibadan revealed that only Adelabu and his party filed a petition

The 21 days stipulated by law for any party to file its petition at the tribunal commenced from the day the winner of the election was declared.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal received a total of 31 petitions.

The petitions are four for the Senate, 12 for the House of Representatives and 15 for the state House of Assembly.

Legit.ng previously reported that Seyi Makinde of the PDP emerged winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Oyo state.

Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the INEC returning officer in the state, declared the result on Sunday evening at the state headquarters of INEC in Ibadan.

Ogundipe, said that Makinde scored 515,621 votes to defeat his closest rival, Adebayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress(APC) who garnered 357,982 votes.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
